Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

Their season is done, they are sweating it out at this point hoping other bubble teams choke and there arent any bid stealers. Dayton is definitely their ceiling but I could see them getting in still, the committee has done far crazier things in the past few years.

I still think saying that they have a 50/50 shot to get to Dayton and then win to get in the tourney is crazy but I guess we'll see

You guys may be right, but all Im saying is I wouldnt come here and declare them done 6 days before the brackets are announced.

They have a razor thin margin for error, need teams like Baylor, Texas, Louisville, Syracuse to lose early. They also need teams like Rhode Island to win their conference tourney, cant have a team like Georgia win the SEC tourney, and need Gonzaga to beat BYU tonight.

Doesn't sound like 50/50 odds to me lol

Nebraksa needs more help than that. There aren't many teams currently projected as "in the field" that can play their way out.

K-State
Providence
USC
UCLA
Bama
Marquette
Notre Dame
Oklahoma State

Wait, you think all 8 of those teams are in the tourney right now with minimal help?

Lol, the last 4 need major help and at least 1 or 2 wins in their respective tournaments to even make it to Dayton.

Honestly, it depends on how much weight the committee puts on RPI. At a minimum the Big 12 will get 7 teams, so that right there is pretty much the nail in the coffin for the Huskers beings K-State, Baylor, Texas, and OSU are all ahead of them. Lunardi and Palm aren't the be all end all but those guys do a pretty good job picking the field every year. Seeding is where they tend to miss.

I don't agree with that at all. Teams like Marquette and Oklahoma st are fringe bubble teams as it stands right now. Go look at Oklahoma Sts RPI.

And they are all ahead of Nebraska right now in quality wins, which the committee tends to value. Nobody has NU in the field or even close to it! I'm not sure why this is so hard for you to understand?

Well, that's a lie because Espn bubble watch that just came out this morning has them still as a contender. And i already gave you an example of a team like Tulsa getting in who had a worse profile than Nebraksa. Why is so hard to understand for you?

Just backing up his original argument.

FWIW I thought weeks ago that Nebraska would be in at 13-5.

I also didn't think their schedule would be as bad as it is, mixed in with the Big Ten being.....poor.

Lol, ok, it's settled, all you need is quality wins right? So we will be getting a bid on Sunday, I mean by that logic Iowa St has more quality wins than Nebraksa, beat Tech, West Virginia, and Oklahoma.

It's about the entire profile, not because you beat Kansas twice but couldn't finish .500 in a confernce.

NIT field is littered with teams that have "quality wins" but unfortunately couldn't develop any consistency in winning enough basketball games throughout the season.

Wagner = Lazard

Looks like the basketball team may take another step back :)
