They SHOULD be better next year by default, but I guess it depends what else the Big Ten brings back/brings in on other teams.
The scary thing is that he has deep Texas connections. You don't see a coach going to a different in conference school all that often but I wonder where he's at on Texas' short list if they cut bait with Shaka.I've said it before, Chris Beard is quickly rising my favorite non-ISU coaches list
Got a preview of Iowa;s team picture next year

The Hok team from last year lost Jok but returned almost everyone else and many fans assumed the SHOULD roster be better this year by default and predicted a NCAA tourney. How did that work out?
Fran hasn't shown to have player make jumps in production from one year to the next and still doesn't have the PG the team needs.
Definitely agree with you. Was just pointing out that it's hard to get worse if you don't lose anyone, certainly possible though. The Hok team from last year lost Jok but returned almost everyone else and many fans assumed the SHOULD roster be better this year by default and predicted a NCAA tourney. If they lose Dailey and Cook they will have Pemsl, Wagner and Moss left that doesn't fit this mold
A lot of why they could struggle to make a big jump is what the B1G has returning. They'll be near the bottom in terms of talent that returns. For most cases I'd agree, but not for this Iowa team. It isn't like the current roster is close to the NCAA tourney bubble. They may get more BIG wins next year but to get the tourney they need to jump from 13th place to 5th-ish.
That is a lot of improvement needed for expectations of the NCAA tourney. Not having a true PG who defend is a mortal flaw IMO.

I heard rumbling on Nunge also.
Nunge would be smart to wait and see what Cook does first.I heard rumbling on Nunge also.

At least we didn't finish last in our conference....One of the oldest cliches in basketball is “hiding a guy in a zone”
When “that guy” is the whole roster, you get 13-19.
