I guess it is just me, but the police in Ames seem to be extremely diligent when it comes to arresting students. I know a cop in Iowa City, and he told me, unless they are in fights or busting stuff up, they usually just send athletes home or drive them there.

Does it actually say underage drinking anywhere? Or is that just implied with “charged as a minor”? Hate to see the interference tacked on. But still not a big deal. I’m sure 100’s if kids on any campus were doing the same.

According to the article, he was arrested and taken to Story County Jail.

This is crap. He's 20, btw. =(

I remember when Berryman (rip) got caught in the bars underage and it being his last strike. I think he was almost 21. Never quite figured it out.

In general unless there's just a random ID or BAC check you have to work awfully hard to get in alcohol related trouble.

If all of Iowa had such an asinine law, almost every kid in rural Iowa would be charged. About the only thing open is a bar-restaurant if you want a pop, or wait for a ride home after activities.

There really is no excuse. The bus system in Ames is world class.
