Graham Couch: Iowa Basketball is a mid-major roster

At some point shouldn't wins count for something? You can only play the schedule you are dealt.

You get plenty of credit for wins over decent teams, road wins, etc. your problem is you think number of wins should count for something which it doesn’t.

This is the argrument that mid majors use when they have a 26-4 type runner up miss the field.

Except Nebraksa hasn't played amid major schedule. So you think a team like Loyola plays a tougher conference schedule than Nebraska?

Yeah, Drake and Valpo are much tougher than Maryland and Penn St.

You just said like 4 posts ago that teams can’t control who they play. You’re more of a loser troll than yeah buddy and the other tavernhoks. At least they know who they are.

They played Creighton and Kansas, who did we play? Iowa and Tulsa?

If we were in the same situation 100% of you guys would say we should easily be in.

If we were in the same situation I'd be nervous AF. We don' deserve to be in so who we played in the non-con is irrelevant to this conversation.

Look, I hate Nebraska athletics as much as anybody and the Big 10 is a dumpster fire 6-14, but there is no way a 23 win team in a power 5 conference is getting left out of the field of 64.

We'll talk about this again on selection Sunday.

Well hey at least you admit Iowa didn't make the tourney when they lost the play in game. Baby steps!

Boy do you love that Big Ten though!

And this year Nebraska basically played a mid major schedule due to skipping the better teams and only scheduling 1-2 teams with a pulse outside of the conference. What are the SOS of Loyola and Nebraska?

If you look at who they are competing with, It will be close. It will be between teams like NC State, Providence, UCLA, K State, USC, .. and even at 13-5 Nebraska is projected to finish with a higher RPI than a few of those teams and they have better metrics and a better strength of record than some of them as well. I would put Nebraska in over Providence, NC State USC based on projections.

College basketball in general this year isn't great. Big Ten isn't good, Pac 12 isn't very strong. Big 12 is lacking an elite team. I don't think there are any great teams this year. I think this could be a crazy year in the tournament.

Since it's happened before, it could happen again so you can't really say "no way".

Even if ISU were to win out and win a couple of Big 12 tourney games, if they didn't get in, it would be disappointing, but understanding since they didn't do enough early in the conference slate. Games like UWMilwaukee certain didn't help but if say the first OSU and Texas games were flipped, that one's probably a non-factor for just getting an invite.

Had to look it up...South Carolina went 24-7 regular season, 3rd in SEC, lost in first round of SEC tourney in '15-16 and didn't get in.

If Nebbie gets in, fine. Call me when they win a tourney game.

We play in a real conference where we don't have to worry about SOS and our non con was still tougher than theirs

Lmao, our non-con was tougher than theirs? Are you serious right now? Who did we play that's even comparable to Kansas and Creighton in non-con?

Somebody guide this thread back to the topic at hand. I just think the Nebraska situation leads to some interesting debate when it comes to bubble talk.
