Isn't this kind of hurting your Saban angle? They've won one tournament game in the last decade. Crazy what a new coach can do to a program!

Not really. LSU is a sleeping giant and has been for a long time. Louisiana produces a lot of talent and LSU is the only program in the state. No reason for them to be bad at bball.

Why have they only one 1 tournament game in the last decade if that's the case?

This is his first year.
They've had good classes in the past few years, and how have those teams done? We've already had this discussion before, but still not sure where you get this idea that Louisiana is this hot bed of top-tier bball talent. Who was the last 5 star they had come out of that state?

I'd rather have the KC, Twin Cities, Chicago, STL region to poach than the state of Louisiana, some of Houston, Southern Miss and Arkansas.

Not to mention they're a football school, it's like going into a Kentucky and trying to state they have the tools to be a football school. Sure they have a rabid fan base... for that sport, but they're so invested in that that if a team isn't in the top 25 all year they don't care all that much about the other sport.

Here is an article from 2016 that said Louisiana had 11 players in the NBA. Louisiana produces a lot of talent and they have had a hard time keeping that talent.

KF has better results at Iowa.
Leach's first 6 years at Tech, first 6 at Wazzu (his whole time there)
48-28 (27-21)
38-38 (26-28)

Kirk's first 6 at Iowa
42-31 (27-21)

Pretty similar results and who has way more money and facilities Tech/Wazzu or Iowa?

I'll take the Pirate all day err day.

At least at LSU you get fired for such performance. Meanwhile 2 tourney wins in a decade gets you a nice extension and massive buyout at some schools.

When you keep hiring coaches caliber wise like Fran McCaffrey, you'll have that.

Look at what guys like Frank Beamer, Bill Snyder did/have done. They have been at places just as long as Kirk, at "nothing special about the town" locations, and with less money, and accomplished a ton.
If Bill Snyder was at Iowa, especially with the schedule now with the new B1G, they'd easily be a top 25 team every year.

There really isn't much difference between Snyder and Ferentz considering Snyder has coached probably close to ten more years. I would bet their average wins per season is pretty close.

Okay, so Louisiana has NBA players that were born there. Any idea where any of them were rated out of HS, where they went to school, how they progressed throughout college?

That's an impressive number, don't get me wrong, but that doesn't mean that if LSU got those players they would/should have been good. I mean, Cam Lard wasn't wanted by LSU, but due to his sit out year and his growth I'm sure they would love to have the player that he is this year. They had the best player in the nation a couple years ago, and there was a point that he was essentially thinking about stopping playing regular minutes because it could only hurt his draft stock if he kept playing (got hurt, stats dropped, etc.)

Why isn't Maryland more competitive or thought of as potential power house? They have 13 NBA players and are the only big University in the state.

I understand your point in that they COULD be, because there are players there and they are the biggest baddest school in the state, but obviously that doesn't automatically translate given their lack of success over the past decade plus.

Snyder has finished the season ranked 13 times in the last 22 years. KF is going into his 20th season and has finished ranked 6 teams. Go back to HR David

Louisiana does produce really good talent and they are close to some really good talent as well. And with the right coach they can be a power. The last 5 star was Mitchell Robinson. Just look at Cam Lard. In the 2018 recruiting class they have 4 4stars. Robert Williams who plays for A&M who could have left last year for the draft. Jacob Evans for Cincinnati.
