It's time for the Hyvee Classic to die

Agree completely. If we’re not good enough to play Drake and UNI on their courts then we’re not good enough. Tired of the non con cupcakes.
Lolz. We're plenty good enough to play DU & UNI. They don't rate a road trip.

As a dual ISU/UNI fan, I would rather go back to the home and home format, but also recognize that the current chances of that are likely low as best.

So, being pragmatic about it, I'm okay with the concept of the Hy-Vee Classic, as it's better than nothing; however, I am irritated that living out here in Colorado there is no way for me to watch the game.

Two years ago the Cyclone-Panther game was on ESPNU at least, and that was a really fun game to watch. I frankly don't know how such things work, but it would be at all possible for UNI/ISU to reach their own deal with ESPN to at least show that game while letting the Hawks play on the Big Ten Network?

I agree with doing away the Hyvee classic but not the home and homes. ISU and Iowa should not be doing that. If the small schools want to play Iowa and ISU they can do so at Hilton or Carver.
I mostly agree with this, but at the rate we have been losing to UNI makes it seem like a moot point if we are losing at Wells Fargo, Hilton, or at Mcleod.

Has Jamie Pollard spoken about this recently? He usually tips his hand about things like this, so we would know whether it has any chance. Last I heard him talk about it, he was pretty positive. $$$

Killing this event sounds good to me. Just return to the old way. It wasn't perfect, but it's much better than this.
Yes, I understand that we played at UNI and Drake. That's just fine.

Remember the last time Iowa played at UNI. Iowa got beat, Fran threw a fit, 2 T's and ejected. Knocked drinks up into the stands and after the game announced that Iowa would never play in that arena again.

I wouldn't mind going to CF to play UNI. North Carolina did it, I think some other good teams have gone there. If we are good we might as well show it and go up there too

Potential unpopular opinion - this will be my 5th straight year going and I truly enjoy it. For those of us who live in DSM and don't have season tickets at Hilton, it's a fun opportunity to see ISU play in person.

Eh, I've been to I think 2 and I think the atmosphere at Wells Fargo is garbage (especially compared to about any game in Hilton). For one, you're soooo far away. For two, a good chunk of the crowd doesn't care about 1 of the 2 games.

For those of us who live in DSM and don't have season tickets at Hilton, you can spend the same amount of money to get tickets to a game at Hilton. (probably less for a non-con crappy opponent)

The Hy-Vee event needs to die. I hope it does.

I would like to see annual series with UNI and Drake continue with home and home series. I have always believed it is good to play instate games as they prepare you for the conference season in a way no other non-major program can on your schedule. Additionally, I believe that season ticket holders and student body groups should get to see instate schools in their own gym, the non-conference schedule needs value and such game provide that.
If ISU is cowardly enough to not want that- I propose a unique scheduling like the Drake game at WFA annually. Or possibly, a three year rotation w/ UNI and Drake playing Hilton, Knapp or McLeod and WFA in the rotation. Obviously, stagger the years that you play home, away or in DSM knowing that it will not always align perfectly.

Iowa State cowardly? You must have meant Iowa...............

2) Iowa doesn't have several DI schools like other states. The other states don't do it because it would literally eat up most of their non-conference schedules. Can you imagine trying to play everybody in Michigan or Florida or North Carolina or Illinois or Missouri?

KU and KSU don't play Wichita, period. Not even at a neutral site. The only way they ever match up is if the NCAA committee has some fun.

It only needs to die if they continue to broadcast one or more of these games on MC22. It's unbelievable that in 2017 Iowa State has to be seen on that horrible channel. This couldn't be picked up by ESPNU? Even ESPN3 would be an option 10x better than MC22, at least people could actually watch the game that way.
