TOE Pinstripe Sales

That seems impossible. Looked it up and true. 5 game losing streak with close loss to LSU being the only non-blowout.

Not only is it not true but it's not even close to true. Iowa has won two bowls since ISU last won one.

Our last win was the Insight Bowl in December 2009... Iowa won the Orange Bowl for that same 2009 season in January 2010 and then won the Insight Bowl themselves the next season in December 2010. But they have not won a bowl since then.

Just saw this on FB today, looks like they're still around 1,000. I got a chuckle out of the last line:

"The University of Iowa believes a number of fans may have bought tickets from the bowl website and not through the school, so the ticket numbers may not reflect fan turnout."

Not sure what you're disagreeing with. That statement is 100% factual. It doesn't mean turnout won't still be abysmal.

Agree with this. We stayed in upper West side (Chelsea) while attending Iowa ST @ Army in 2005. Warm temps, I couldn't wait to get out of Manhattan. It was opening credits from Welcome Back Kotter on our entry from JFK or La Guardia (can't remember)...... the cab ride view was --graffiti everywhere. immediate turnoff so much I wasn't interested in the Statue of Liberty or Empire St building. Every urban person wore black, didn't smile. Nowhere to eat actually downtown. I enjoyed the boat tour up the Hudson to Rockefeller estate, another boat ride to a Yankee game, and loved West Point. I guess I'm way more a Chicago traveler

Chelsea, 23rd street, below midtown = upper west side?

If you say so.

Iowa has a good chance of winning in NY-us too; but I'll be surprised if both win.

I go nuts supporting our team, but will not get baited into being cocky or overconfident.

Not really disagreeing with anything, more lol'ing at the statement. As if they're the only school who has fans buy from other outlets? Do they have some sort of evidence that 10x as many hawk fans have purchased elsewhere?

No, so the statement was pointless.

A school making a statement to pump sunshine, the outrage... ISU fans should know a lot about that.

This was very predictable and not shocking for a number of reasons.

1) Crappy Bowl in a crappy location for a bowl game. NYC is awesome to visit, but not sure I would want to lump in a bowl game into that visit. It is also very expensive and could be very cold. Most Iowan's vacation in the winter to get out of the cold, not go somewhere that could be colder.

2) This will make the 30th bowl game Iowa has been to in the past 35 years and probably the worst destination out of all of them.

3) Iowa has lost five bowl games in a row with the last three being absolute shellackings.

4) Iowa fans know to not buy tickets through the university as cheaper and better seats are to be had on the open market or at least better seats for the same price through the bowl.

5) You have a boring coach and a boring program with an under qualified bad offensive coordinator. Fans are jumping off the sinking ship of a program that KF is about to sink 10,000 feet under the sea.

Actually "TOE" is a much better acronym than "TUN" or "TTUN".

I'm indifferent to it only because TOE is an awesome acronym. Proceed if you like it, but use the acronym. I mean who here doesn't laugh a little at calling them a toe?

In my youth, the Hawkeyes were called the State University of Iowa and went by the acronym SUI. I still think that acronym is appropriate. SUI. SUI. SUI. Curiously, that was used to call hogs as well.

According Hlas, the Rose Bowl is the only bowl that matters. Maybe he should start a campaign for the TOE faithful that they turn down any bowl that is not in Pasedena.
