So I am definitely making the trip. I actually booked the hotel room 2 weeks ago (no kidding). It was a gamble but they were refundable and I was able to pick my hotel.

So now I just need to buy the tickets. What side is ISU on east or west. And how do you recommend buying them? I’m not a Cyclone club member and it looks like I can buy them already online but I want to make sure we are on the Cyclone side.
I went to the last Liberty Bowl and despite the outcome we had a blast.

Buy them through Iowa State. That will ensure you’re with Iowa State fans, the prices on secondary market versus through the university are damn near identical, and it does help our future bowl allocation to buy through Iowa State so they can say “we sold 25,000 to play an away bowl game.”

If you go to the Prime Sports site, there are a handful of tickets available in Sections 103, 104, and 105, but none in the rest of our area. Those are the best seats on our side. So, I'm assuming those have been sold to sponsors and season tickets holders (for Memphis). It also would seem to indicate that our fan base will be split into two main parts, both outside the 30. At least, it will help us with the Cyclone Power chant.

My assumption on that is most of those sections have been allocated to ISU to sell tickets for and therefore, are unavailable for purchase to the general public at this time.

I would go through the university if you're buying 2+. The ticket selling webiste is only charging a flat service fee of $30 which is much much cheaper than you'll find on any other website. Plus, all the other arguments made above.

Somebody has tickets in these sections, but not many, so you may be right that most are being kept for our ticket office. However, there were a bunch for sale last night. And prices have skyrocketed for the few that are left. $339 for tickets in Section 105 Row 14. It was low $100's last night.
