Reasons for Optimism (or, Don't Burn Your Tickets Yet)

Going to be a long year or two here, they will get better, but so will everybody else. There is just too many holes here to to competitive, I think I am just going to watch Wiggington get better and that might give me some hope for next year. But in reality, next year is a rebuilding year as well with all the new freshmen coming in. This year is a throw away basically, I think anyone really paying attention knew that, next year hopefully an NIT sort of year and then year 3 hope to make a step back to the bubble. Lot has to go right though, this is a big hole to dig out of.

The Sweet 16 is underachieving? The year before we lost to UAB. That is underachieving. A sweet 16 is only what...a top 10 season in school history?

I see you didn't mention the 6th place (10-8) in the Big 12 with Nader, McKay, Thomas, Morris, Niang. Or that the Sweet 16 was obtained by beating two double digit seeds. Yes you can only beat who you have to play but it still provides context in the same way we look at Baylor's deep runs in the NCAA tournament.

The first season was a wash at best. CSP impressed with that group last year getting to 12-6.

So the accepted expectation is now missing 3 years of the NCAA tournament? I'm sorry that is simply not acceptable in college basketball especially when you are paying a man 2.1 million and asking fans to donate $5k a year to sit in the upper deck.

I think I'll watch my DVR of the 2015 game instead. I'll just pretend that it's live. I'll even watch all of the commercials to give it that real feel.
Outstanding idea!! Maybe we should all do that. Start a thread at the beginning of the game, like it's real again. Time warp.

Lol, hell no that is not acceptable. We are a top 20 program. If we aren’t back in the tourney next year, that’s pathetic.

Well I am glad I did not fall for the marketing hype and buy tickets to this fiasco! We have a lot of pieces that don't fit - kind of like the Island of Misfit Toys. No shooters of note, zero rim protectors, no playmakers, a bunch of running around and hoping the ball magically falls through the hoop! A 10 win season would be a miracle seeing this hot mess! CSP is really glad CMC has our attention- I did not know we had a game tonight - such was my disinterest. I heard and turned it on and wished I had not. I believe we will finish 12th. Behind the top 2 women's teams as they would kick our a** right now!

lol there it is! "Sorry Prohm, no need to coach and run plays. If they pack it in, you can't run a play."

What happens when the 2 potential starters that haven't played actually, you know, play? What happens when DJ hits his stride that he demonstrated non-stop last year? What happens when this team starts to translate practice into live game situations? What happens when they get experienced? Thanks coach - I'll hang-up and listen.

I think the jury is still out. After last year and the adjustments he finally made I was all aboard but I still think we underachieved his first year. Last year the answer was there but we took a long time to make the adjustment. This year has looked like a disaster.

I also think people overate his time at Murray State. They should be top 3 in that conference every year. Not that he didn’t do well but it wasn’t as good as some think it was.

The jury is STILL out for you? JFC. Just fried chicken.

The best news is that basketball is still only one ball and 5 guys. This isn’t football- one player can make the difference.

That’s also what’s so incriminating to Prohm. Every Cyclone coach in my lifetime has found talent and guys ready to step in at a high level. Even McD had NBA guys. What I wouldn’t do for Mike Taylor this year.

We keep it within 10 of UWM.

I'm pissed at you but that's funny.
Our issues won’t be solved by Lard and Brase. We’re not as bad as we looked tonight, but yet, we were very much that bad. I wouldn’t want a rematch with UWM until January, at the earliest.

I honestly don't think I can find 1 reason for optimism. This team just looks downright BAD. The lack of fundamentals is embarrassing.
5 MADE BASKETS IN THE SECOND HALF , with the third basket coming with 1 1/2 mnutes left in the game as Milwaukee let up, 2 followed for a grand total of 5 baskets .

A PITIFUL EXCUSE FOR BASKETBALL AND I have watching ISU ball since Glen Anderson in the armory days. Hoping they will get better but they are not even bad, they are HORRID.
What was the final total for turnovers, cherry or apple from the basketball bakery?
