Basketball Walk-Ons

Pretty crazy that we don’t have a single walk-on this year. When I was in school every night at Lied there were a handful of guys who were at least D3 talent level. You’d have to think at least one of those guys would love the chance to play for the Cyclones. Anyone know how late in the season someone can join the team?

Not make it sound the world is ending for the basketball team, but if I was good player in high school who didn’t want to go the D3 route, I’d be making a call to Prohm. We’re one injuy/suspension/foul out from having six guys.

We have 8 guys now that Lewis is playing, right? Should be back to 10 in a couple of games.

Given the amount of work you put in and the small amount of playing time you get it's just not worth it for certain guys (look @ Greder & Hutchison). But I have said it before that even though it's not the end of the world it'd be nice to use those spots on guys that we think could possibly develop into contributors down the road. Or even guys that could be emergency contributors (i.e. Ashton the other year), especially considering how we're not very deep this year.

Just checked twitter and I’m late on the Lewis/Lard news. Still though your chance of seeing some playing time is much higher than in recent years. Not trying to say this would be a good thing for ISU, just that the window is pretty open right now.

Of all the cave threads the game threads and everything else...these are the threads that bother me the most.

Me:
4 years eligibility.
Not an ISU student but I wish I would have gone there.
Late 90's Any Rural/Smalltown Iowa High School Conference honorable mention...I think twice.
Mid 30's but I run often enough to pretend I'm young.
40% from 3 senior year, really good for someone who's 6'10
Weight: 180-185 depending on week and/or beer consumed during ISU event.
Height: 5'8. So not 6'10.
Pretty good detassler IIRC.

37, knees don't work any more, vertical down to about 18", jacks up shots from anywhere, retired from Rec League last year, and no eligibility remaining.

Would probably quit my job and sleep in my car if Coach Prohm would let me practice with the team every day though.

I once participated in an ISU scrimmage at State Gym. My buddy and I lived on Sheldon Avenue and used to go over there to shoot quite a bit. One day Lynn Nance had the team over there scrimmaging, and a couple of players had to leave - so Nance insists we take their place.

It was kind of like standing next to the exhaust of a jet airplane. Neither of us ever touched the ball, and our main concern was not getting run over. Andrew Parker blew by me on one possession and went up and dunked backward ferociously.

But all in all, it was pretty fun.

Here's my resume:

6'2" 195.
Shot 100% from the line my senior year of high school (4-4).

With my experience in governmental contracting and accounting, I could probably help out with the athletic departments books while I'm not playing in the games.

28 in age but skill set and speed of a 45 year old (Niang-esque)
Graduated in 4 1/2 years so eligibility a question mark (On appeal NCAA may say its okay)
Willing to do just about anything to make the squad (Team Player)
