"If I sign an NLI with an NLI institution but attend a junior college, is my NLI still binding?
Yes. Your NLI remains binding if you do not fulfill the NLI agreement to attend the signing institution. If you sign an NLI then later attend a junior college and graduate from that junior college, the NLI you signed before enrolling in the junior college is no longer binding. This would permit you to sign another NLI to attend an NLI member institution."
Basically, Nixon signed an NLI with Iowa and never enrolled so it is still valid. Iowa is the only place he can enroll early unless he wants to graduate from IWCC. If he graduates, then it is wide open.
The following was brought up as well:
"This NLI shall be declared null and void if the institution named in this document notifies me in writing that I have been denied admission or, by the opening day of classes in fall 2017, has failed to provide me with written notice of admission, provided I have submitted a complete admission application."
Or
" This NLI shall be declared null and void if, by the opening day of classes in fall 2017, I have not met NCAA initial eligibility requirements;"
Nixon had a weird case with the NCAA. He was actually declared eligible but it was a few days before classes started at Iowa and he was already enrolled at IWCC so according to the above definition, the NLI was never null and void.
Thread doesn't specifically call out the Hawkeyes or Cyclones. Could mean Iowa High School football recruiting also. Pretty generic thread title in my book.
