Tom Petty has Passed Away

Most incredible concert I ever went to was Dylan/Petty in MSP. I can't even remember when, '86? I don't remember about 2 years around that but I remember that concert. Those two complemented each other so well.

Replace Prince with Freddy Mercury and I am completely with you.

Wow, that would have been an amazing show. That would have been in the height of the Wilburys stuff, right? That would be awesome.

It's hard to argue with Freddy - I had only done primarily solo artists, and I know Freddy did some of that, too. Even then, it's hard to leave off Jimi and several others.

Have you seen what happened to Pants? You may want to check out the RTT. It's a real shame. He was young and a good dude.;)

I heart has a station doing a Tom Petty tribute, and in between songs they had him talking about how the British invasion helped him discover American rock; bands like the Beatles and Stones got him in to Chuck Berry. It was interesting to hear.

I don't know if anyone went to see The Toadies last night, but their final song was a great cover of "Breakdown."

Not terribly surprised.

There was a clip many years ago of someone asking him about his performance somewhere, and he was real candid in saying he didn't really remember much of it.

Did the entire last tour with a fractured hip.

Yeah, it's not uncommon for a fractured hip to precede death in the elderly; the fact that he played through it night after night is amazing. It's not hard to imagine it took medication to do so.

Haha....so "possum kingdom" was the name of that song that is burned into my brain from the 1990's. "...dark secret....sweet jesus....." Ha. never knew the title. freaky hooky bass riff.
