ISU opens -9.5 over Akron

I will say, how big is this game? I think there is no better gauge on how much we have really improved than this week. This team was completely shut out by top 5 team in Penn St (52-0), than comes back and beat a really bad FCS school..... We know very little about what they will be at the end of the year, yet to me it gauges both being on the road and against a opponent that was dominated early by potential-Playoff team on what we truly can do....

Arkansas Pine Bluff is one of the worst FCS programs. They've won 9 games in the last 4 years.

Side rant, these are the type of FCS teams ISU needs to be playing. Not FCS powers of UNI, NDSU and SDSU

That's embarrassing. What kind of program only wins a handful of games in 4 years? I mean, we're at 11 wins in 4 years, which is a good 20% better than that . . .

I think Montgomery has a strong and very productive homecoming in the first half, which will hopefully give Warren some reps to get his legs back under him. Montgomery is a physical freak and I love him but we're gonna need a productive Warren at some point this year.

I'd be surprised if the line doesn't move to 12-13. Iowa State dominates 41-20.

Line is currently ISU -9.5 with an O/U of 64. So Vegas thinks a 37-27 Iowa State win.

For comparison what lines closed at the last two game s

Iowa -3 O/U 48
UNI +9.5 O/U 51

I want to see Park and our receivers get a workout throwing deep and stacking PI calls against Akron over and over. Get up some confidence so we can get away from 4 yard outlet passes.

We found another weapon with Montgomery on the receiving end of the four-yard outlet passes. This offense looks legit.

Akron likes to run the ball. They ran it 44 times against UAPB and had more time of possession than Penn State in the blowout.

They are a penalty machine as a team, averaging 10 penalties/game through two. (20 penalties for 214 yds)

If the ISU front 7 comes to play and can dominate the line of scrimmage against the run ISU wins by 30.

This game reminds me a little of the time Rhoads took the 2009 team to play at Kent State. We hadn't won a road game in awhile and people weren't exactly expecting an easy win.

In the end we handled/dominated and won 34-14 or something similar.
