Now wait. Randy Pete has told us that the scouts will find Lanning and will know who he is.

Note: I don't think it's crazy that Lanning could play in the NFL as a linebacker, given his size/speed combination. But no one has any idea yet as to how well he can play linebacker.

If he's not going to start for Iowa he's not going to be better than Bailey this year. He obviously has a lot more upside but freshman playing on the line usually is a big learning curve.

Starting doesn't matter at all. Last year Iowa's starting RB and backup RB were both better than ISU starter.

I'd say about 75% of the time that OU backup player > ISU starter. If you wouldn't pick having AJ Epenesa on your team over any ISU DL you are a fool.

Russell could always throw the ball long, much like the space between his ears. QB is a cerebral position and a lot more variables go into that position than any other in football. Russell wasn't exactly a mobile QB either. He was a statue back there with a cannon for an arm, but the football graveyard is littered with the careers of strong armed pin heads.

He could easily play DL better than Brady.
