Iowa Football Recruiting

CMC cares about beating Iowa more than winning Big 12 games. He said it himself. I'm sure it's tight though and competing in the Big 12 is a very close runner-up in his mind. Which is a good thing. I'd hate having a coach who couldn't get his guys fired up for every game, or who fostered a culture of giving up when they're down. He's better than that.
Let's face it, the team was a circus act for a couple games last year. It took some time for the team to buy in but they got there, and they will be much better equipped to beat Iowa this year.

I agree that most of the time the games are tight, especially when we win. I think this is the first year the mold is broken. I really like our team this year, and I honestly feel like this is one of those transition years for Iowa.

I'm not sure why you think Iowa will be down. Name the last Iowa football team that has a good Oline, good RB and good running game that won 4 or 5 games? Iowa doesn't have to pass to win games, they proved that last year and in previous years.

I get why you are excited about ISU, but being way down on Iowa seems more about your Cardinal and Gold glasses than it does because of facts.

What's the Joe Moore award, is it anything like All Big Ten freshman team?

Your oline didn't seem to be able to pass block last year, so I don't know that I would call them good. Normally you have a defense carries you to some games. You have 1 good defensive player this year and a lot of unknowns. I think you will give up a lot of points due to an inexperienced secondary. The running game will be ok, but other teams respected CJ, so even though they were a run first team, they still had to respect CJ a little. This year, it's all run blitz all the time, and there isn't much Iowa can do about it without any talent at receiver and lord knows who at QB.

Iowa will offset this by running a two TE set the majority of the time. You don't have to have a good QB to be able to complete a pass to a wide open TE off play action. That will be Iowa's bread and butter this year.

I didn't watch a lot of Iowa football, but I don't seem to remember them doing that last year too much. We will see what they do this year, logically it would make sense, but who knows if they will actually do it?

To beat isu all they need to do is what they did in 2013, and physically beat them down.

They didn't do it much under Davis and when they did, not effectively. Under KOK it was an absolute staple of the offense. It will be a staple again under Brian.

So good you had to use it twice.

Don't worry about it. The Joe Moore award is to ISU football as the female organism is to your wife. Unattainable.

First off, I had never heard of the Joe Moore award. I mean, is that like the best lighting award at the Oscars that doesn't even make the telecast? I had to look it up...and it's for the most physical OL. That's nice and all and I'd be happy to see ISU be mentioned for it, but it says absolutely nothing about pass blocking. When I watched that bowl game and the announcers were begging KF to take Beathard out before they had to go get a stretcher, that didn't seem like the best OL in the country to me. Physical? Sure. But with ISU's offense, Park is asked to do more than Iowa's QBs are and a Joe Moore award obviously does not mean that your OL can pass protect.
