Ryan Boyle

I didn’t know he existed until I looked at his recruiting profile, saw his low ranking, lack of offers thru summer evaluation, and height and weight. Frankly, I don’t have the patience to find and watch his highlights, so I’ll just take the recruiting services and coaches word for it.

Shocking to find out you were talking out of your *** the whole time, truly shocking. From your post history I was expecting a thoughtful and knowledgable analysis.

BTW most recruiting services have them as being nearly equal.

I don’t blame you for knowing nothing about football recruiting, but ISU couldn’t even get him to their camp that’s 30 min from his HS, yet he went to Michigan, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, etc.

Boyle did camp at ISU and threw at least once (maybe twice IIRC) for Messingham

You think if he'd camp at all these spots and he was good enough maybe someone besides Iowa would offer

I mean are Hawk fans really talking smack about a HS kid ISU didn't want before he's even enrolled in college classes? What am I missing here?

It's the false assumption that since he's from Iowa he's better than X, who plays somewhere else. Either that or they're just incredible homers who don't realize the only real difference between the two is a few crappy offers.

Mangino wanted to see him throw in person but Boyle committed before ISU’s junior day. Regardless, doesn’t really matter now.

Hopefully he pans out for Iowa (well not too good). Always want to see Iowa kids do well but on paper it doesn't look like ISU missed out on much

HAHAHA

On paper huh? What on paper could he possibly have done better? Besides move out of the state of Iowa and played against better competition there is absolutely nothing he could have done better. He helped his team beat the single season scoring record that was previously set by Ankeny. They beat that record by 40 points.

Size is probably the only thing you're going to give me. Am I right?

On paper meaning as a recruit nobody else wanted him either.

Not too hard to figure out that on paper he wasn't a high rated recruit with tons of offers.

He's playing against Iowa talent. He is not that good overall. Would probably be very effective at a non BCS school but not in the power 5. Keep things in perspective guys. Iowa does not have much talent overall as a state. Especially in the skill positions. That's just reality. I wish it wasn't that way since I am born and raised here but its just the simple truth.

Well let's bookmark this thread. Nothing further to discuss. I have a feeling he's going to end up being a player you guys look back on and wonder "He's from Des Moines? Why the hell didn't we offer him? Oh ya that was during the CPR tenure and our recruiting was lackluster."

I'll eat crow if I'm wrong.
