of course Alain Bernard (one of the members of the french 4 X 100 Freestyle relay) had to talk crap before the games saying: "The Americans? We are going to crush them. Thats what we came here for."

well now lets see how much they are talkings after Lezak ran Bernard down the strech and just barely won it for the USA.

anyone else watch?!?! it was amazing... phelps has about at 75% shot at 8 golds now i'd say

I never talk at the TV because I'm well aware that it makes no difference whatsoever. Despite that, I jumped right out of my chair and was screaming and clapping like my life depended on it. I couldn't pick my jaw back up off the floor until they went to commercial! That was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen, end of story. Suck it, France. That's what you get for trash-talking Uncle Sam: a nice view of our star-spangled butts!

As a side note, when Phelps was screaming after the race, I was afraid he was going to accidentally behead some innocent bystander out of sheer joy. Seriously, the dude looks like he could punch holes in steel walls.

Yeah...he was on the verge of catastrophic wardrobe malfunction.

It was a great olympic moment and is right up there with the USA beating Russia in hockey back in 1980.

I just happened to come in the room when the race started and the guys were talking about how good France was and that we probably didn't have a chance. We started out well, but faded in the third leg. When our last guy made that final charge it was just amazing and it was so fun to see the emotional outburst by the commentators as well as the swimers.
