More Trouble for Barta

They settled to avoid another court defeat. Cost them over $6 Million between settlements and lawyer fees.

And they still have the IT issue to worry about.

The good news is the 6ish million bucks will not cost the taxpayers of this great state a dime. All being paid for from athletic dept reserves. Fundraising is at an all time high per Barta yesterday.

That's refreshing Dan

The Iowa Attorney General spent hundreds if not thousands of hours on this case. Doubt that was free to the taxpayers.

Are you saying the AG received compensation above his regular state funded salary for working on the Iowa AD lawsuit?

It was more than Tom Miller and I have no idea. I don't know how their contracts work, if they needed to hire out extra lawyers, pay for hotels, fuel, food, etc. Who knows what their workload was.
There could be a lot of extra expenses.

The same with jurors.

So Barta is confident that he cost U of I millions?

The AD is paying it all out of reserves which should be replenished back up to about $10M within the next couple of years.

There has actually been a nice uptick in fundraising since the verdict.

Thanks for your concern!!!

Are you saying donors decided to give more money after the Athletic Department was convicted of discrimination?
