Iowa Football Recruiting

Nobody is pumping chests about anything. I said there is no way ISU is going to only have to play 2 ranked teams in the entire regular season like Iowa did in year 4 of the Ferentz era so it's comparing apples to oranges

Granted, if Iowa was a crap team instead of the #8 team in the country, both 8-5 Minn and 8-6 Wisconsin would have both had 9 wins and likely ranked after both beating ranked teams in their bowl games. I guess that is just what happens when you are one of those higher level teams in the conference every once in a while.

Usually you try to at least deflect something like this instead of out right ignoring it. It's alright though, hard to get back in the swing of things after a long holiday weekend.

I'm talking about Ferentz's 4th year and CMC's 4th year. I'm not talking about CMC's 1st year

You think that if CMC played 2 conference ranked teams instead of 3, that he would win 11 games? That is what you are saying? The Big12 has had 3 ranked teams in 4 of the last 5 years. If ISU was every one of them, they would face 2 ranked conference opponents.

Are you bragging about beating two unranked teams to pump up your weak schedule? Iowa barely had a top 50 SOS that year and that included USC. That's insane!

You truly are stupid. I don't know how else I can say it but you don't understand what is being discussed here. ISU was terrible last year, CMC wasn't going to win 11 games no matter what the schedule was

They went in to the Big House and put a beatdown on a real good Michigan team though. That is like ISU going into Norman and beating OU by 25 points. Can you imagine the eruption over here if that were to ever happen?

Instead, you got this result.

Two 8 win teams that both beat ranked teams in bowl games? Yeah, I'd say they were both pretty good. Luckily Iowa was a pretty good team that year and helped seal their fate outside the top 25.

I don't think you guys get the fact that when you are one of the top teams in the conference you face one less top 25 team. Iowa has finished in the top 10 5 times under Ferentz. That means Iowa is beating the other teams taking a win from them and keeping them out of the rankings. The Big12 almost always finishes with 3 ranked teams, if ISU was one of them, that means they play 2 ranked teams that year.

You guys literally have no clue how it works when your team is actually a top 25 team. That means you beat the bad teams and mediocre team. That is what makes you top 25. OU, OSU and WV the Big12's top teams all played 2 conference top 25 teams. That is it, that is how easy the Big12 is for the top teams.

Iowa also lost at home to ISU and got destroyed in a bowl game (shocking). Sometimes you play really good sometimes you play really bad. Iowa was very fortunate that year to play such a weak schedule, even you can agree with that

Wisconsin finished #33 in the final AP poll and Minnesota was #34.

Oklahoma St had a SOS of 52 and played 2 ranked conference teams and won 10 games.

And would have been higher than that if they had an additional win, somewhere around 9 win (and ranked) VT, Pitt, Colorado (who lost to Wisc in the bowl game), FSU, Virginia, or WV. Certainly above CSU, BC, etc.

This isn't that hard.

Iowa was really good that year, and the year after and the year after that.

Yeah if they would have won more games they would have been ranked higher. In depth stuff here. Too bad Wisconsin lost to a horrible Indiana team and lost at home to a poor Illinois team

The top teams in the Big12 have an easy path every year. They play 2 conference top 25 opponents is all. So if CMC were to ever finish in the top 10 in year 4 like Ferentz did, odds actually say that there is a 80% chance that ISU played 2 conference top 25 opponents.
