Hey guys quick question today.

I am looking into creating a Cyclone Fanatic newsletter. Nothing new. Just something that would either go out once a day, or week, that's kind of a ICYMI type of deal.

Basically, a compilation of our coverage from the day/week. Nothing fancy.

Daily seems to get lost in the shuffle for me. I'm leaning towards sending out every Friday at like noon or something.

Is this something you would be interested in? Please respond with what you would like to see from this product as obviously - the fans are who we are doing this for. Want to make it what you want.

So you mean it would be like Monday Musings? I find that to be one of my must-reads on the site. I'll speak for myself, but I tend to catch-up on most ISU stories that occur Monday-Friday and disconnect from CF over the weekend, so Monday Musings is my opportunity to catch-up on any developments.

Name ideas:

The Daily Nutcup
The 6'10 Post
The Nigel Tribune

And if you had an instate rivals section, you could call it "The Maishe Dailey News"

I think the message board users don't miss as much content but would be beneficial for those that mainly use the news portion.

Would hot topics on the message board be included? That might get more people active.

I should add that I really liked that idea that you floated by Ross on The Fanatics last week about posting your top 3 articles to read each day. Is there a way to add those links in a new menu on CF - maybe title it "What CW is Reading" and post them just below the New Threads/New Articles field. I whipped up a concept for your review:

I would love a daily or weekly collection of links to the best Cyclone-related articles published on this site, but also other sites.

And maybe also links to what you consider to be the best posts on the forum for the week (most informative, best analysis, most funny, etc.). It would help legitimize the Clonies!

Honestly, I probably see everything the first time due to my obsession so it wouldn't be necessary. I'm guessing it would be useful for others, though.

Honestly, I tend to agree with cyclonespiker here, so I personally would really have no use for one and would not sign up or read it. Kind of like what you talked about in your podcast, this world is just too much here, now, in-demand, and in the future for me personally to care about old summaries. Therefore, count me in the group that doesn't read your game summaries much at all simply because I saw the game, or pretty much get updates somehow in real-time. Just trying to be helpful to you Chris by being honest.

My two cents would be not to stretch too thin.

I know it could be just a bunch of copy/pastes, but I feel like the community knows where to find stuff when they want the news. I think resources would be better spent elsewhere like articles, podcasts, and hitting the road for content material. It's already been discussed about the limited staff and shrinking prices for ad revenue (not less eyeballs, talking cents on the dollar.

We can aggregate the ourselves. Don't give poor Jared another thing to do :). Plus the added development for a feature seems silly.

The main point from a business standpoint is to have something else to sell.

I am trying to get away from ads on the site. If we can have more content to sell, it will allow us to get rid of ads if that makes sense.

It's on WRNL already. Unless the play here is to take those viewers (from Fitzy and crew).

Like sponsored content? I like that idea of it.

I never minded the ads though, vocal minority like clone fans in meltdown threads.

This would be different from what they do. This would be CF stuff only. Top threads of the day. Our content that we produced from the day. Top posts of the day. Etc. Would likely be weekly too, not daily.

How about more video content? I'd be interested in little quick hitters hosted via YouTube. I'm super bored at work and take whatever you'd give me :)

Working on that too. My goal for 2017 is to do more 50-60 second videos with fresh opinion for Twitter/Facebook, etc. Can have an advertiser logo on there and be very non-intrusive. I did this during the NCAA Tournament and the views we got were insane.

How about some weekly user-created content? I would enjoy reading some columns like: BrooklynCy's fast food restaurant reviews, cyrocksmypants' recruiting insider news, a conspiracy theory column (won't mention username, but rhymes with sargent), cartoon/comic strip of the week (I can do this one), a classifieds section, obituaries, etc.

I was thinking this as well. Crowd source some stuff, especially for the slow period.

Totally unrelated, I've grown up a message board guy (strangetalk ftw) so I've always had my bookmark straight to the forum. That's probably not helping me digest a lot of sponsored content, although I always try to check the podcasts once a week. Prior to 6 months ago that wasn't the case, and I'm glad I did. maybe I should bookmark the main page.
