Iowa Football Recruiting

Well, even though ISU doesn't have many in the NFL, I'd guess the ones that are weren't exactly blue chip recruits...

That is true. Iowa and ISU don't get the blue chippers that is for sure and likely never will. Have to be a developmental program and hope that by their RS sophomore year they are ready to contribute in some way. That is why attrition really hurts Iowa. If they can keep the kids for the duration, then usually they field strong fb teams.

Who?? Besides Klein I haven't heard of any of these guys.

I remember George because CPR threw a fit after George forced a fumble after the Texas player was down at the goal line a few years back.

IIRC, Rhoads made an ass out of himself at the postgame presser after that game also.

No doubt about it. Programs like Iowa, Wisconsin, and K-State are among the best in 2-3 star player development.

Hoping eventually ISU can follow suit.

Man, it sucks that he wasn't recruited by many P5 schools, oh wait... Chad Greenway, Dallas Clark, Robert Gallery, Bob Sanders, Abdul Hodge, Brad Banks, Josey Jewell, Mitch King, Shonn Greene, Akrum Wadley, Scott Chandler, Brandon Scherff, Pat Angerer, Aj Edds, Marvin McNutt, Karl Klug, Mike Daniels, Tyler Sash, Brett Greenwood, Amari Spievey, Micah Hyde, Anthony Hitchens, Christain Kirksey, James Morris, Leshun Daniels, Jordan Canzeri, Matt Vandeberg, Desmond King, Henry Krieger Coble, George Kittle, and Drew Ott, all say hello!

Since when are Canzeri, Ott, Leshun Daniels, etc considering NFL talent?

Let's be honest that Hawkeye list had some duds on it if we're referring to NFL talent

Yeah, but they were all great players on some good to great teams. Brad Banks never made an NFL roster, but he was awesome that one year he played except for dropping the ball twice against you guys.

McNutt was a better recruit than Smith and it isn't even close. Don't be stupid

He was higher ranked but he was recruited by Iowa to play QB. That is a fact.

Kirk turned a 3 star QB recruit into an award winning, school record breaking WR.

The point (which CyTwins either completely missed or he is just being a troll as usual) is that Iowa fans have reasons to be optimistic about a recruit like Smith. He seems like a great kid, is a hard worker, is extremely athletic with great hands and tall.

If that's the case I could list other players that were good but not NFL players for ISU that were lightly recruited.

If he is an extremely athletic tall WR with great hands why was he so lightly recruited?

Maybe he will be good, maybe he will suck but I don't get being that excited about a recruit nobody really wanted. AJ Klein ended up being a stud but I don't ever remember looking at him coming out of HS and saying "this guy is going to play as a freshman, extremely athletic, etc". That's my point

I just gave you a list of similarly recruited players that turned out great for Iowa and that is why Iowa fans have reason to be optimistic. Plus, please don't try and compare the list of lightly recruited players for ISU and Iowa. There is no comparison.
