Iowa Football Recruiting

Trout said they were brothers from their hometown. I never claimed them to be blood brothers. I wouldn't be surprised if Campbell doesn't know who Brian Ferentz is, he's pretty irrelevant

I'm sure Campbell doesn't know Brian, he looked clueless stopping Iowa's Oline so it
Makes total sense.

Yes I do think you would still post here, you seem to be really confrontational. I don't think you find joy in posting here, maybe some jealousy due to our up to date recruiting style?

Seeing how obsessed isu fans are with Iowa is fun to mess with. The lengths you all go to is really amazing.

On a serious note I am not seeing what this new recruiting style exactly is for isu.

Do you know what would really scare Iowa fans? If isu went out and got a coach that actually had a history of building a program from scratch. Someone who had a plan for how to turn around a loser because they had done it before. Someone who said this is the culture we are going to have going forward and only recruit players that fit that profile. A coach that knows what style of play can work in their conference, take their lumps until that system is in place and stick to it. Thank god isu hasn't figured this out. Clone fans are bad enough to listen to when they are getting the results they have been getting. I can only imagine how bad it would be if you all actually had a respectable program to crow about.

I would say Campbell significantly improved Toledo from what is was under beckman. He definitely has changed the culture in Ames. They took their lumps last year, but they did improve as the year went on and now he is recruiting players to fit into his system that he's sticking with. Seems to be very similar to what you are blabbing on and on about.

What in his system is different than what Chizik and Rhoads tried to do?

It seems to me he is focusing on In-State kids a lot harder than your previous coaches and also focusing on the OL a lot more. I think this is key for ISU becoming a respectable program.(In terms of wins and losses.)
Seems to be taking less of a "diamond in the rough" approach to recruiting as well.

Like I said in another thread, the number of ISU signees from the previous staff who never played meaningful snaps is alarming.

So tell me how it was different. I didn't see anything different about it. Same sets, formations and zone reads. Output and win totals the about the same as well.
Campbells first year had about 55 yards a game more on offense and higher average points per game than the previous staff had in any one season.

But yes, I'm sure blocking schemes, plays, etc. were all exactly the same.

You watched every snap of every game?

A whole 55 yards per game better. No wonder isu won 3 games yet again. What on earth was I thinking.

You're right, only a difference of about 50 spots in YPG in all of FBS.

I don't get it? Is this like "Winning the second half" stuff here? Who cares what the stats are, you won 3 freaking games or less 4 years in a row.

Clearly you are following the entire conversation and not just picking from it what you want so that you can (obsessively) bash ISU.

There is so much great Hawkeye discussion here that many times I have to skip pages of it. So yes I might have missed some context on this. In my defense though it is only because ISU fans love to talk Iowa sports so much.
