Summer Concert Thread

Expecting a little one any day now, so my concert schedule is not quite as robust as it has been in years past:

5/23 - RHCP
8/4&5 - Hinterland

Really don't have any other's right now which is kind of bumming me out. Passed on Metallica, passed on John Mayer in Chicago, passed on TOOL in St. Paul and Chicago, passed on Chris Stapleton's outrageously gouged ticket prices in Des Moines. Might try to catch some of the local shows at Wooly's. I know Miike Snow was coming and I really enjoyed them at Lolla a few years back.

ISUKendall could tell you stories about a place near FtCollins called Mishawauka (sp?) that is great.
.

Yes, the Mishawaka is fantastic, just had lunch there on Sunday on the way back from the mountains. A recent list named it the #2 venue in CO after Red Rocks, and I would totally agree. Small outdoor amphitheatre next to whitewater mountain river with old-school bar and restaurant. http://www.themishawaka.com/

This is one of those summers where wife and I damn near go broke buying concert tickets, but too many good ones to say no to:

Ryan Adams @ Red Rocks
Ron Gallo @ Larimer Lounge
Avett Bros & Shovels and Rope @ Red Rocks
BECK @ Red Rocks ***most anticipated***
The Record Company @ Steamboat Springs (free)
Amos Lee @ Red Rocks
Spoon @ Mishawaka
Wilco & New Pornographers @ Denver bike fest
Gov't Mule & Yonder Mountain String Band @ Red Rocks
JJ Grey & North Mississippi All Stars @ Red Rocks
Sturgill Simpson @ Red Rocks
Explosions in the Sky @ Mishawaka
RHCP @ Pepsi Center

Saw Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit last weekend at Uptown Theater for Middle of the Map Fest.

Rest of the summer (so far):
- The Shins @ The Midland
- Glass Animals @ Providence Medical Center Amphitheater
- Old Crow Medicine Show - Performing Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde @ Uptown Theater
- Portugal. The Man @ The Midland
- Hinterland (Saturday only)
- Fleet Foxes @ The Midland

George Clinton is coming to Hoyt Sherman. I will be at that. Hall and Oats were a blast. Thought tears for fears mailed it in.

Yeah, you can screw right off, too. That looks amazing.

Avett Bros are going to be in Council Bluffs in October, so a girlfriend and I are pretty positive we're doing that - Chris Stapleton is the next night in DSM, but it just seems a little overpriced due to WF's crazy fees.

I would kill for, like, half of these. I'm so jealous.

My first concert was Alabama at the State Fair. My music tastes have changed a lot since 7th grade:)

My grandparents took us to see the Oak Ridge Boys when I was, like, 8! I remember being just SO BORED. ;)

Lotta good music already mentioned, thanks for the ideas everyone!

Personally, I'm most looking forward to:

The Punch Brothers & I'm With Her (Sarah Jarosz, Sarah Watkins, and Aoife O'Donovan) @ Ravinia in Chicago, August 14th

Metallica - Iowa Speedway - Newton
Tim McGraw/Faith Hill - Wells Fargo - Des Moines
Iron Maiden - Xcel Energy - St Paul

All in a span of 8 days then nothing until September. Rocktember - Hinckley

Saw Mondo Cozmo and Bastille at 7 Flags (great show, awful venue). Hitting up Everclear, Fastball, & Veritcal Horizon (late 90s me is pumped!) and Blue October at Nightfall on the River. Miike Snow at Wollys. Paramore & X Ambassedors at the State Fair.

Have low expectation, they are getting up there in years and I was under impressed last time I saw them....

I think I am most pumped for Gary Clark Jr of all of the acts at Hinterland, pretty easily. I can't wait to see him live.

Dawes was really good here a couple of months ago. They put on a good show - much higher energy than you would expect from a band that has so many mellow songs.
