If it is not insurance paying a chunk of this, then they were negligent there too. I am sure they have some sort of employment practices insurance policy. But yeah lesson to document issues with employees.

Jane Meyer was universally disliked in the AD office by co workers and coaches. and around Iowa City. I listened to the Moorehouse and Docherman podcast and Moorhouse flat out said she was a bad person. He said he didn't care that he was saying it because it was true, and Docherman agreed, and said she actually broke laws dealing with her, that Barta should have written her up for.
Barta is an incompetent idiot. Any half wit would have documented everything Meyer messed up and did wrong and how she treated others and this would have been a slam dunk case. He should be fired for his incompetence. It is basic employer 101 pretty much and he didn't do it, and it cost him and should cost him his job.
Didn't Barta recently sign a contract extension? I can't say it enough it would really suck to be a fan of a program when you hate the AD
1) the jury foreman's comments don't suggest the problem was documentation but rather the complaints and things that coaches said Meyer did wrong didn't amount to much and didn't justify firing.
2) Here is the response by the attorneys if there was documentation:
The men in the AD didn't like Jane because she was an outspoken woman and the documentation amounted to nothing more than gripes by men bc a woman was in a position of power and they aren't used to it and don't know how to deal with it. This happens quite often that men are allowed to act a certain way and women aren't in the workplace.
Further, why wasn't she fired after any of these instances? She was only fired after her relationship became known ( a relationship approved by HR) and after she continued to raise issues of discrimination and unfair treatment of women and also of gay women in the AD. If these instances that were documented were such a big deal, she would have been fired sooner.
Why do you like Pollard? Just because Barta sucks doesn't mean Pollard is any good. Let's look at what he did.
Hired McD. Fired Mac, and hired Chizik and Rhoads and now CMC. That right there should have gotten him fired.
Since Pollard got to Ames in 2005 the football team is 51-96 dead last in number of wins for a P5 school (yes behind Kansas 52). In the 6 years before Pollard the football program was 36-37 (.500 basically)
The funny thing is you chest thump over this. Don't talk to me about facilities, he is living in an age or dream TV monies, and Barta is better at getting fatalities and money raising any way. None of that should make fans worship them, I certainly don't and never did chest thump about Barta cause the guy can raise money.
They are both incompetent dolts, and it's funny that ISU fans worship their incompetent AD. At least Iowa fans loathe theirs.
I think Pollard is a great AD. It's no secret ISU fans love Barta and Iowa fans hate Pollard. I mean he hired Hoiberg, Prohm and Campbell. That's big time
So far he is what 1 for 8 on hires. Too early to tell on Prohm or Campbell imo. Any coach could have coached the leftover Hoiberg ISU roster to the NCAA twice. Now we will see if Prohm can cut it or not.
To be fair, how many ISU ADs got a football hire right? what about basketball? Not too many of them. And what is getting it right for ISU football.
That was Meyer's attorney's narrative, you certainly hit that on the head.
It wasn't that Jane wasn't liked because she was an outspoken woman (Heck Mary Ferentz is outspoken). It was she wasn't a nice person.
There were a lot more witnesses that came out and testified for the UofI. There was a reason that Barta was on the stand for days and days and days, and that was because he was the case. Prove he didn't document things. Show the positive reviews, and bang when you got an incompetent idiot at the top, she wins.
This is basically just your opinion based on nothing. he was on the stand for days because he is her boss and the one that made the decisions. The pay disparity was certainly documented. They didn't win that one either. And the timing problems are still there. There is simply nothing but your opinion that documentation lost the case. And you didn't even hear all the evidence. Just some snippets from reporters.
I would say its more like 1 for 5 with 3 TBD.

I was wrong since I didn't look up the actual number. He is 1-5which is awful. Not many ADs get the chance to make that many bad hires, but at ISU he is universally praised cause his Twitter game is awesome.

This list doesn't even include letting Cael walk and firing maybe the best coach ISU has ever had in football or getting rid of the baseball program.
