U of I loses $1.4 million in lawsuit

I'm no fan of Barta. I also understand that you don't just let teams fans into their locker room. You honestly think fans should just have access to their teams locker room?
You trying to always flip it into a question where you put words into mouths is weak.

That's like me saying "Oh, you enjoy purchasing tickets from a sexist, discriminating school?"

The need to paint the opponents locker room pink decades ago, sure makes a lot of sense now.

So you never answered my question.

Why wasnt this huge news story talked about here between the time the lawsuit was announced and the guilty verdict?

And if the verdict was not guilty, do you honestly think a thread would have been started about it?
If you go back and read, you'll see that I did answer your question. I said I think that a big part of what makes this a big story is how much of a shock the verdict was. I will admit that I never thought it would go this way. Iowa is an at will employment state. That provides a lot of cover for employers. Before the verdict, there didn't seem to be much to talk about, because it seemed like no more than a nuisance lawsuit. Our own women's basketball coach just went through one where there was an initial thread on it, then not much was said again until he was exonerated. So, it's not exactly unprecedented, here.

As to whether or not there would have been a thread if the outcome was different, it's impossible to tell. I suspect there would have been something, but not as big, because it was expected to go that way, by a lot of people. I think you're really underestimating how surprised people were by the verdict. That alone makes it a bigger story, that people are interested in.

I'm definitely feeling like I'm in the minority when I thought Iowa was going to lose atleast a couple a counts in this case.
Every time I heard Emmert on the radio discussing it, I was like, that's not good.
If you listen to sports talk radio, media members have subtly made it known for years that the Iowa AD has a reputation for kind of fumbling a lot of issues and not looking good PR wise.

Why would there be a big thread until something actually happened?

Ban this prick already.

What Am I trying to flip? Who cares who stole the items, nobody should have been in that locker room. Players parents shouldn't have access, common fans shouldn't have access, nobody but authorized personal should be allowed access. That isn't Iowa's fault that ISU let people into that locker room that shouldn't have been there.

Either way I'm done with this tangent. We can both agree tha Barta is an idiot, is incompetent and should be fired ASAP.

I was told Barta is an awesome AD though...
Who told you that? That's crazy! Just why does it seem this University always has unproductive naggers? I'm not a big Pollard guy, but at least Pollard is a decent guy and I honestly believe Mr. Pollard would have had the courage in his convictions to fire Meyer and the field hockey coach on the spot. Barta didn't fire both and just sat on his hands. SAT ON HIS HANDS! What do you have to say about your guy now Chokeye fans?...................(waiting)......................

You chose to respond to 1 of the 3 points I made but typical for you. ISU hires the security out, same company Iowa uses. If this happens at Iowa, you would blame them and not the school.

Also, if Iowa doesn't fire him, will you support a discriminatory led program? I bet you will.

If it happened at Iowa, it is Iowa fault. Pretty simple.

I haven't supported Barta for a long time now. I can support the Iowa Hawkeyes teams, players and coaches. They were not the ones guilty of anything. Yet like I have said loudly and often the guy needs gone. If he doesn't step down or get fired I will absolutely end all donations to the Athletic department and end my long time season tickets for football.

If Barta is still around this fall you won't go to football games?

Just because you think Pollard is a dbag doesn't mean you can't admit he's a much better AD than Barta. I think Brands is a terrible human being but I had no problem admitting he was much better than KJ

What you basing this on? Fundraising? Barta has raised a ton of money.

Coaching hires? Pollard doesnt have the best track record there. Barta has missed some here as well.

Trolling on Twitter? JP definitely has the edge in this category.

I dont think I said that, did I?

I think you are wrong when you say Pollard is far superior or much better than Barta.

Try to be at least a little objective once in a while.

Pollard is far superior than Barta and I am being objective by saying that. ISU fans like Pollard and what he has done, Iowa fans want Barta fired and he just lost a $1.4 million lawsuit. Maybe you need to be objective here
