White Sox manager admits ordering pitchers to throw at batters

Ozzie has ordered a beaning? No way.

So have 29 other managers.

this surely isnt front page news. im not even sure its news period. besides, AJ deserves to get beaned (see Royals-Sox post from earlier)

Only one dumb enough to admit it, get fined and suspended

He's still the only one smart enough to bring the first World Series title to any Chicago team since 1917, with a team that wasn't all that great.

No the twins will do what they always do.... play good until about 2 weeks left in the season and then crash and burn. This is the year of the cubs.... good pitching, defense, and offense... it's gotta happen this year!!

Or it doesn't.

I'm not convinced the Angels will lose more than 10 games before next season at this rate.

The Angels have my pick as World Series champs at this point in time. They can outslug you or they can small ball you to death, and they have solid pitching.

Back to the topic: Anyone who believes players don't get thrown at needs to watch baseball. It's no wonder a lot of the studs get hit more than the people you've never heard of. This isn't simply because the studs stand closer to the plate either

I appreciate the honesty too. Plunking people is part of the game. As long as the aim is at the body and away from hands and head, I think its just part of playing.

The thing about it is that it's an unspoken thing for most teams/players/managers. You hit our best players or show us up, we'll hit your best player, or the guy that showed us up. I have trouble believing that any other managers feel like they have to order their pitcher to bean somebody. That's just Ozzie's micromanagement. Like Cross cyed said, though, he did bring a title to Chicago that he had no business winning. So, whatever...

A lot of the time a player knows to do something. Other times it comes from the top. Specifically when a younger player is involved or someone new to the team that doesn't quite know the history. I have no idea how anyone can accuse Ozzie Guillen of being a micromanager.
