Shakur Juiston on njcaatv.com tonight

Maybe you missed where I said KU is best when they have seasoned veterans down low in the post. Guys self (formely Manning) were able to develop for years. Robinson and Withey certainly did not suck as upperclassman. Interior youngsters have a harder time coming in and being high level players from day one. Take a look at Diallo and your guy Cliff Alexander for recent examples.

Don't care to comment how you figure the four star freshman Tilmonis going to make such a bigger impact than the four star junior Juiston??
I just having another tall guy off the bench. Always having someone 6'10"+ on the floor would be a nice change. I am sure Juiston will be a nice player. It should be another interesting year next year with so much turnover in the Big 12. Sure it would be nice to have a jr/sr T-Rob or Withey ready to plug in but that guy turned out to be a flake (Bragg) so we'll soldier on without it. Preston will take a bit to get used to the college game but Azubuike is gonna be a handful next year. Still another month or so left in this recruiting cycle so plenty of twists and turns to come.

Harrison Barnes is from Ames, and is home for Easter. Juiston is in Ames visiting, that's how they talked. If Harrison was 2 or more years younger, he more than likely would have been a Cyclone. It's not impossible to bump into someone in Ames, but I'm sure Prohm welcomes Barnes to the facility if he wants to visit... as he's a famous Cyclone fan.

If only...

Kane
Barnes
Hogue
Niang
Ejim

Mitrou-Long
Morris
Thomas
Edozie

...off the bench.

Yep, Random article I came across talking about Ames and Barnes.

Hoiberg signed on to coach the Cyclones just a few months after Barnes had announced his choice. The timing was all wrong. “It was too late,” Barnes said. “But had he got the job earlier, I might've went there.”

Exactly. He's an NBA player and a legacy, even if he didn't go here himself. If he happens to want to hang around the basketball facility, Prohm would be silly to turn him away, unless he's badmouthing the program, which I wouldn't think he would. Barnes has done a lot charitable stuff with Ames since he got to the NBA.

Great to see Prohm's pulling out all the stops.

But on a tangential note, do Barnes and former players unofficially scrimmage or workout with these guys? I mean, with all of our seniors possibly gone, it would be tough to get in quality scrimmages that Hoiberg liked to do with recruits. That aspect is a big advantage of the programs in bigger cities.

Barnes last year in college was 2011-2012. Kane wasn't in Ames until 2013-2014. Would have played with that Royce White team his second year.

I was rolling with the hypothetical that HB was a few years younger, so he would have been recruited into the program as Royce and Clyburn had them back in the tournament, Fred was established and had a great relationship with him, and therefore Barnes came into the program and was a freshman or sophomore that Kane/Ejim year.

So you haven't answered the question. You implied Tilmon would have more of an immediate impact than Juiston for KU next year. You

Ha who is KUs current 6th and 7th man next year? Just want to understand how you don't feel Juiston would be an instand impact player there. Please do share how KUs bench is currently "stacked"

I would guess Barnes has access to the facility. Why wouldn't he? Even if he didn't attend ISU, having a NBA Champ walk around and workout can't hurt anything. And like others said, Barnes doesn't seem like the type of guy who would bad mouth ISU. He would likely say very nice things about Ames and it's basketball community. I think Shakur and Harrison meeting was likely 100% positive from ISU's perspective.

Harrison Barnes is an enormous ISU fan. The kid grew up in Ames. If the program wasn't in shambles at the time he would've been a Clone. I'm sure he was talking to him about how much Iowa State basketball means to the community.

I have no reason to doubt this, but are you sure? Thought I had heard he always wanted to play for North Carolina, that was his favorite growing up, but I might be confusing it with Marcus Paige. Regardless, lets hope Barnes was putting in good words for ISU.

Are they mutually exclusive? We're not exactly rivals, yet ;) An entire generation (or two) are t-shirt fans of Michael Jordan and UNC. And Barnes always viewed his commitment as a business decision, just like a lot of us view life decisions.
