Shakur Juiston on njcaatv.com tonight

Some positive comments from a Hutchinson assistant

http://www.desmoinesregister.com/st...ntinuation-iowa-states-ncaa-streak/100430352/

"Kansas recently got the Lawson brothers, two of Memphis’ six transfers. K.J. Lawson is 6-7. Dedric Lawson is 6-9. Both must sit out next season after transferring. Does that factor into Juiston’s decision?

“Shakur is cognizant to the fact that it’s a numbers game,” Cyriak said. “Shakur is in a different situation; he’s only got two years to play. It’s a concern.""

Thanks for the quotes.
I think he's good enough to play over guys at KU next year, and he'd have a leg up on them in 18-19, but it's a risk for any player to spend the last two seasons of eligibility with 4 or more 5 stars at their position. KU is also in on the top big men for 2018, as they always are. It isn't a "good enough" concern imo, he is, but rather a risk-reward calculation that I'd hope any recruit is conscious of.

It's been since Kane that we've had such an important spring visit imo.

Well the coach does have "CY" in his name...

I feel like Walters should be doing a live broadcast of his visit or at least a minute by minute recap blog by CW or any of the CF staff! Really just hoping for an Easter Egg in the form of a commit.

Self will lie to him about the situation there. He will have enough good front court players to put a great team on the floor, he doesn't need Juiston, but at the same time he doesn't want ISU to get him. So at this point, Self may be just trying to stop us from getting our top target.
Based on what? Self is widely known for being brutally honest with players about their competition for minutes and what they will have to do to earn them.

Self isn't going to tell him anything more than that he can compete for minutes and be part of a great team and a program that will push you to improve. He faces more competition for minutes at KU than at any other school he is considering. There isn't anything wrong with Self wanting to get as good a player as possible for their last scholly. I doubt it happens but it is 100% guaranteed not to happen if you don't pursue it.

He is. What is amazing to me is half the Ku fans on the Phog want KU to get Juiston just so isu doesn't. make no mistake of Juiston wants to go to KU then Self will tell whoever to leave to make room.

You are delusional. Self isn't going to, and doesn't need to, kick anyone off the team to get Juiston on the roster. If Juiston wants to come to KU and try to beat out all the competition to get minutes, good for him.

The whole "just to keep him away from ISU" stuff is just fans being fans. Self wouldn't care about that. Look at their roster and look at ISU's roster for next year. You really think Self is gonna tarnish his reputation in the recruiting world by throwing one of his players to the curb just to land some 6'7" JUCO PF? I get that people here are excited about a good looking prospect being interested in ISU but don't lose your mind. Self is recruiting about 6 different guys at multiple positions for that last spot, hoping that one of them will take it.

Your arrogance is off the charts. Iowa State has had some pretty good success with little ol 6 foot 7 power forwards. Georges Niang, Melvin Ejim, Marcus Fizer ring any bells?

Iowa State led that recruitng battle all along. KU fans knew it. Bill Self knew it. Nevermind the 16 page thread about the little ol juco on your board KU fans will now start to downplay Juiston.

Tell Billy Boy thanks for signing the Memphis transfers. They seem like real high character guys. Real student athletes. Right in the mold of Jackson and Vick. Tremendous for the community real easy to get behind those guys!

You give tuco too much credit. KU fans aren't arrogant as much as they are ignorant hayseeds.

Nope, they're arrogant.

The vast majority live in McMansions in Overland Park or around Johnson County.

They all went to HS together in Johnson County and then travel 30 miles to Lawrence for school before heading back to Overland Park to raise their kids together.

Arrogant wine and cheese crowd basically.

The vast majority are pretty nice people, just a little sheltered and very entitled in basketball.

KSU and Wichita State are more of the hayseed types.
