Does the Ames PD still routinely set up stings by sending minors to various places to try to buy underage? I seem to remember that being a commonplace event when I was there.

or meI typed this long thing...deleted it. Suffice to say that I don't agree with the legal drinking age, but it IS 21, so buying beer at 18/19 is illegal. I'm just not sure if I would go out of my way to report to the parents.
Probably not the answer that BDK would expect from me.
I will say that if I knew the kid pretty well, I'd point out to him/her that s/he was being stupid. But it seems that the story changed slightly from one telling to the next. In the first we were asked if we would go tell the parents of the kid if we were friends with the parent. Then the story was that a mom caught a future roommate of her son trying to buy beer and publicly "outed" him as a minor.
So which is it, BDK?

In the beer scenario, I probably would have gone crazy passive aggressive mom on his ass, mostly because my kid is going to be rooming with him. In a loud voice like, "Hey BDK (assumed name of course), just wondering on when you are planning on having your high school graduation party? Wouldn't want it to conflict with ours, since you and my son are going to be college freshman roommates and all." Then I would invite him over to dinner with his parents, and we could all talk about some of the pitfalls of doing stupid stuff in college that may follow you around on all kinds of applications for things and such. Maybe discuss some boring stuff like who is providing what for their room/apartment. Then just let BDK (assumed name of course) sweat about whether I am going to drop the info on his parents are not. Cause what fun is catching a kid doing something they shouldn't if you can't mess with them lol?
They still do that in Omaha. When one bar sees it they start calling the other bars in the immediate area to be aware of the sting. One bar posted it on facebook and the OPD tried to get them for obstruction or something. They didn't succeed.
In BDK's situation, It would really depend on how well I knew the kid or the parents. I would most likely just let it go and let nature take its course.
I'm a bit ashamed I didn't think of torturing the kid in front of his parents. Well done, Carvers. Well done.
When I had to fast for the dreaded colonoscopy the first 6-7 hours of fasting was the worse. After that it wasn't so bad. Not sure about 48 hours.
You go through this rodeo enough times, you learn to have fun with it.

Well, crap. It's overcast as hell out today. I can see the eagles outside, but not much higher.
It was sunny earlier but has clouded up again. It looks like we could get a bit more rain from the trailing edge of the system sitting over central Iowa
Word is they thought about it, saw a guy with a tribal tattoo driving a pickup with a lift kit and promptly surrendered before leaving the tarmac.
I actually already intermittently fast for 18 hours every day (I break my fast at 11:30am and stop eating at 5:30pm), so I'm used to it mostly. (Admittedly, I sleep through a lot of it.)
I ended my "feeding window" at 1pm yesterday, and have only drank ice water, iced green tea (no added anything), and diet pepsi since then.
The 6-7 hours was nothing for me, since I'm used to it already. But once I got to the 18 hour mark, where I normally break the fast, my stomach started giving me the business, trying to get me to feed it. I made it through, and I'm doing okay right now. Now I just need to see how long I can ride this out. It would be great to stretch it out to a few days.
