I don't know about anyone else, but I'm glad we dumped the Play in Game/Tournament argument for something new and fresh, like a Conference Strength debate.
What a time to be alive.

See this is pretty simple. You look at a team that won 9 games last year and you don't see a 9 game winner this year. Perfect example and thank you for proving my point. You don't see me getting all
Bent out of shape that you think a BigTen team that won 9 games won't do so again this year. It is a prediction you are making, what is all the fuss about?
Oh, The only reason I think K State falls off some Is because of Snyders health. If he isn't healthy, it is a bigger blow to K State than losing some LB, or a QB. They are an awful program without him.
6-7 average
8 above average
9 good
10-11 awesome
12+ Elite
These are rough, they aren't set in stone, but rather just rough estimates. SOS can move you up or down 1 slot I would say.
Iowa was above average and K State was good last year. That has nothing to do with this coming year. Last years failures or successes don't matter.
Plus this is seems absolutely about Conference Pride. I guarantee if I said the same thing about a non Big12 team that nobody would have batted an eyelash around here. Instead you guys just cant let it go. It is like some battle you feel the need to wage to get my opinion/prediction to change. It is weird.
Compared to the last couple years this year your schedule is actually not that bad.BigTen is really tough this year. Plus we play 2 bowl teams in the non conference and an improving ISU team in Ames who always play us tough in their Super Bowl (had to beat you to it). Gonna be a long year playing that grind of a schedule.
No it's not. Your schedule is a bunch of average/bad teams and a couple good teams. I would think 9 wins would be the bare minimum
I can guarantee you that you wouldn't call any other team (outside of Big 12) that is Top 30 in every metric, won 9 games, and returns almost everyone, "average."
I even went to bat for Minnesota and said they were above average. Every metric agrees with me there. But instead you insist that it's only for "conference pride."
Let's look at schedules:
Take ISU schedule for instance. Last year they faced the following garbage teams (6 wins or less)
San Jose St., Kansas, Texas Tech, and Texas
Then they faced the following average teams (6 or 7 wins):
Baylor, TCU, UNI (I’ll throw them in here)
They played 4 teams that were good or better (9+ wins):
K-State, OSU, OU and WVU
Compare that to Iowa last year, Iowa played the following garbage teams:
Rutgers, Purdue, Illinois, Miami (OH)
They played the following average teams:
NDSU, Northwestern
They played the following good or better teams (9+ wins)
Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Penn St., Michigan, Florida
ISU had the much, much, much easier schedule and they won 3 games, while Iowa won 8 with a much tougher schedule. We don’t really know how tough next year will be until we find out who is actually good and who isn’t. The funny thing is you wanna say K State is super awesome with 9 wins, but Minnesota and Nebraska suck with 9 wins. It is funny Conference Pride.

Wow, you really bit on this bait hard. That is because it factors in how bad ISU is for Iowa and how good Iowa is for ISU. I left that game out for that very reason. But thanks for showing how bad ISU was last year and how good Iowa was for SOS last year for ISU.

Cool. ISU played a harder schedule than Iowa last year.
Also Iowa was #44 even with ISU staff in them downs and ISU was #49
ISU always drags down our SOS. And no they didn't even with that.
ISU had a harder schedule than Iowa last year. That's not an opinion

One spot, that is statistically a tie, plus others have Iowa at #44 and ISU at #49.
ISU brings our SOS way down and Iowa bring ISU way up. The other 11 games Iowa had a much much tougher schedule.
ISU had a tougher schedule than Iowa last year. Facts don't lie bro
