I'm voting gold, but that's only because I know virtually zero about the other teams. I know Yao Ming is playing for the Chinese team, and that's about it.

Also, I think the US team is helped greatly by the fact that Coach K is in charge.

If the US loses again USA Basketball needs to completely reevaluate how they go about making the team and maybe how we develop talent from a young age. We should be dominating basketball.

I know chemistry is a big issue when forming a team, and these guys say the right things when the mics are pressed to their faces, so we'll see.

You would have to think that a team with both Kobe and LaBron on the same side would have to be nearly unstoppable.

It would be great to see these guys just shred their way to the gold.

I don't think Ginobli will be playing at 100%, but I think he is expected to play. Argentina, Spain, and of course the Serbs could be tough. But with this roster I expect them to roll and if they don't it will be a big disappointment in my opinion.

I was wondering this to myself. I believe the Boston Celtics had only American players. Do you think we would do better if we sent the Celtics?

I caught part of the game this morning before work and it looks like the same game they have played in the past. Run and Gun, TO's etc. I'm not sure how many changes have been made.

Granted this was only a portion of the game so it will be interesting to see how things unfold starting next week.

If Ginobli plays then I think Argentina is the favorite again, but last I heard he wasn't...

This is what I don't get. I don't buy the argument of the rest of the world catching up to us. Argentina has one big name player and they should be considered a favorite? We have a roster of NBA all-stars from top to bottom. We cut players that would start on any other team in the world.

I know the international game has some differences, and that some of these teams get more time to play together than us, but when you look top to bottom at the rosters, I don't know how you can say that we aren't still way above the rest in terms of talent.

2004 was a disaster. Putting together a team of big names is great, but they didn't cover their bases by not having any outside shooting. It looks like we have learned from that mistake. I also think losing in 2004 was a wake up call and that we should see a team much more focused on playing as a team, doing the small things, and winning.

I agree that anything less than a gold here and the whole thing needs to go back to the drawing board.

I haven't followed it much yet, but does this team have anyone that can make an outside shot? That seemed to be the problem before.

Just because a team has one big name NBA player doesn't mean that they only have one big name player. There are some 'experts' out there that beleive that Manu is the best player in the NBA too...

I think USA has as good a team out there as they have in a long time. That being said, the international game is different than the NBA. USA could easliy slip up somewhere and lose the gold medal. I like the international game, it's more of a team game which favors good shooting and defense, and lets face it, that's not what the NBA focuses on.

USA needs to win it this year, the embarrassment has gone on for too long now.

I think LeBron's guarantee of gold will help a lot instead of providing a distraction.

What experts think Manu Ginobli is the best player in the NBA? Please.

He is a great player and has some great players around him in Argentina. The US should win this one going away if they stick to their game plan.

Professional basketball around the world has advanced a lot in the last 20 years, but I wouldn't go so far to say that there are a lot of players out there outside the NBA that can go toe to toe with NBA all-stars and be equal as far as talent.

There is still way too much money in the NBA, and if there are international players out there with the skills to make it there, they go to the NBA. The day I see an NBA all-star leave to play overseas, that is the day I will start wondering if it is right to expect us to dominate at basketball.

My comment: Who cares.. I detest the presence of overpaid primadonas being cast as Olympians. Yes, there are incredible athletes, but they aren't playing basketball.. They play "shower me with glory," because you know it is "all about me."

I have always loved the Olympics. But why the hell get rid of great team sports like baseball and softball and retain this dreck that is called basketball.

Just my thoughts, mind you.
