Marlins get Manny Ramirez, one prospect (BOS), and cash (likely Ramirez’s remaining salary)
Pirates get Jeremy Hermida and three prospects (two FLO, one BOS)
Red Sox get Jason Bay and John Grabow

So far this trading season, the Pirates have been nothing short of a farm team at the rate they're turning over players...

I would like to see the Dodgers dump Andrew Jones put along with an Andre Either and maybe a prospect for Manny and a Boston prospect.

Won't ever happen but man do I want Jones out of LA. I think it is a mission to see how many big name/old FAs the Dodgers can sign in their lifetime that end up making millions for almost no output.

I love this time of year. If you scourge the message boards of different MLB teams you'll see all sorts of half-cocked trade ideas, 99% are wildly impossible, impractical, and laughable.

I do find Manny's comments regarding Boston to be interesting.

Earlier today, however, I heard that it was all but certain that Bay was headed to Tampa. The Cards were supposed to be No. 2 in the list of suitors, but they really don't need another outfielder and the Pirates wanted too much for him.

Pirates would get the best deal long term out of this I think. Young promising OF and 3 prospects from 2 of the better minor league systems. Guessing if this deal is squashed it's going to be Boston balking or Florida thinking twice about taking on payroll.

NO. Give the Sox Ethier. We'll find a place for him.

Only if you take Jones too.

Don't get me wrong I love Either and think he will have a great career but I just can't stand having Jones.

Amen. It's a sad day when I'd rather have Juan Pierre in the lineup over Andruw Jones, but it's the truth. At least Joe Torre recognizes Jones was a mistake and has said he's the 4th outfielder for the time being.

I'm also hoping Ned Colletti is fired after this season and they promote Logan White to GM.

So you don't think they;ll take a flier on Ng?

Jones is the dumbest signing ever. They overpaid for a guy who is 31 and hit .222 last year. He hardly deserved half of the $14.7 mil he is making this year and the Dodgers will have to eat practically all his remaining contract just to get rid of him.

She's definitely qualified for the spot, but my choice is Logan White. He obviously has a very good eye for talent as he's responsible for most of the guys in our farm system and the young guys in the bigs. Some people think he has too much influence already on the Dodgers and that's a major reason why they haven't traded away the farm (Kemp, Loney, Billingsley, Broxton) because he doesn't want to see them go. I think if they're going to let him influence decisions like most think he is, he might as well be the man.

Bottom line is we don't need Ned Colletti in there going dumpster diving every offseason and trade deadline to pick up guys no one wants that don't improve our team and only stand in the way of developing our young guys that are ready for the bigs (see: Andy LaRoche).

Manny isnt going anywhere. He is just being Manny right now. He will be a happy Red Sox next week. He goes through this every year or so.

The pirates have the worst minor league system in the majors after the horrendous management of previous GM Dave Littlefield. They have no shot at contending in the next two years and with the likelyhood that Bay will blow out his knees, I really like this deal. They need to add as much pitching and talent as possible so that they might actually have a chance at .500 in 2010. They have to sign Pedro Alvarez (their 1st round draft pick) to complete this overall. I like what the new GM is trying to do.

Bay is going to the Rays.

Manny to Florida for Hermida almost straight up.

If Kim Ng gets passed up for Logan White it will PO a bunch of women's organizations. Ng is the number one Assistant GM in baseball.

Which is why the Dodgers would lean towards promoting her if Ned is gone. I don't have anything against her, but my personal choice is Logan White. The issue is, if Ned is fired and either White or Ng is promoted, I think they will lose the one not promoted. I'd hate to see either one leave, but if I had to choose I'd want White to stay in the organization.
