Dish Network is have a dispute with Hearst Television which owns KCCI. Thankfully ISU is on TruTV first round but it is still aggravating not having CBS during March. I'm too far away for over the air. I'm getting really close to cutting the cord when they start messing with live sports.

This one is on Hearst though.

I think it is six bucks to buy CBS All Access for a month if you are worried about getting the games.

It's super douchey that the big cable networks always pull this crap around the time of major events. It's not even surprising anymore.

Sounds like a good time to call up Dish (even if it isn't their fault) and threaten to leave. Bet you can get a nice monthly discount.

You could always grab KCCI over the air with any basic antenna.

Yeah, if you live close enough. I literally live 10 miles from the tower and are having issues picking up the signal with an expensive HD antenna. I wouldnt put it past some of these stations to weaken their signal on purpose.

We have DISH also...this isn't their fault, it's the dang companies that own these local tv stations that want more and more money for tv that should be FREE

Try the cheapest rabbit ears style antenna you can find. I've had good success with those. Especially if you are that close. Is your antenna in the basement? That could be the issue.

You mean the old cheap rabbit ears? Those pickup HD signals? No its just in my living room, it picks up WHO fine but not KCCI. I don't know how that can be when their stations are a block apart downtown.

The signal had nothing to do with the location of the station. The TV towers are in Alleman. Each station broadcasts ant a different power from the towers.

KCCI is alot weaker then. I only live 5 miles further from Alleman than downtown. I should be able to pick up both just fine.

We got digital antenna when WHO was holding up Dish during Olympics. We are quite a ways from Des Moines, works fine.

I doubt it has anything to do with signal strength but rather your antenna. You said you had an "HD antenna" which I suspect is a UHF antenna. Do you get WOI? If you have a UHF antenna you probably don't because that is a low VHF channel and you would probably have a better chance with a coat hanger. WHO is at the top of the VHF band so maybe that is why you get it. For channels 5, 8, 11, and 13 nothing will beat a good old fashioned antenna on the roof like your parents/grandparents had but rabbit ears might work, especially if your house is somewhat elevated. I live in Urbandale and have an old fashioned yagi antenna in the attic above the garage and it works great.
