Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Jok is an elite shooter even by NBA standards. There are most certainly not a surplus of NBA players with his shooting ability.

And it's pretty comical that your (inaccurate) reasoning actually applies to Morris moreso than Jok. Morris doesn't possess any elite traits. Average athlete, average shooter, average defender, not a particularly adept passer. I guess he's really good at not turning it over, though? I'm sure that will get him on an All-Star team someday.

Monte shot 46.7% from the floor - 49.7% from 2 and 39.5% from 3

Jok 42.3 from the floor - 47.0% from 2 and 37.1% from 3.

Who's the elite shooter again?

Pop quiz. A program in this state signed a convicted felon. Which school did this?

yep, this is where the "Doing it the Right Way" posters lose their argument every time. Fran was 100% okay with signing a felon. He and Barta publicly vouched for him. Their fans were totally on board with him. They were pumping him up all summer as someone who was going to be a big contributor for them. There was no trepidation, no second thoughts. They were absolutely fine with him being on the team. So, the whole "ISU has thug players" argument is pure baloney.

Shooting percentages don't really tell the whole story. Just about every shot Jok takes is highly contested with guys draped all over him. Not the case for Morris.

If percentages are all that matter, I am sure you would also agree that Darren Collison is a better three point shooter than Steph Curry.

You have a point. I like to look at how players perform against elite competition in the NCAA tourney to get a better gauge of their abilities.

Keep digging. ******* moron

This would certainly apply to your assessment of Jok as an NBA shooter. He's not used to being defended like he will there, either. Plus he couldn't defend against a folding chair.

You're right in that Jok is not used to being defended like he will be in the NBA. That's because if he was defended in the NBA the way he is in college, the defender would be fouled out in about 30 seconds. The freedom of movement players are allowed in the NBA, plus the improved spacing, will make things a lot easier for Jok in the NBA than he ever had it at Iowa.

I honestly don't think he's any better shooter than Matt Thomas. He shoots and makes heavily defended shots all the time. He uses the bounce to get a shot up. Plus, Thomas plays defense.

In the midrange, sure, although some of that can be chalked up to poor shot selection. Jok has taken plenty of open threes this season. He just hasn't been all that accurate when compared to elite shooters.

Except that Steph takes 4 times as many 3's as Darren Collison.

Jok and Monte take similar amount of shots.

Jok is an electric player, but give me the steady production and overall game of Thomas any day. Jok can be really, really bad at times.

Rookies and bench players get a lot of freedom of movement calls in the NBA? Good grief.
