Well, there are 351 D1 basketball teams, compared to 128 D1 football teams, so it's more like 4 Elite 22 runs for ISU since 1999.
Eh, I get your point. And it could be argued both ways, but I don't think it is as cut-and-dry as just saying finishing in the top 8 is comparable to an elite 8

13 seeds in the 2nd round are 6-19 including 3-11 against the 5 seeds in the 2nd round. Thats a 79% winning percentage for the 5 seeds against 13's.
The 5 seed against the 4 in the 2nd round are 39-49 which is about 45%. If you cant see that 79% odds are better than 45% then you lack any simple reasoning skills or are a complete idiot, one or the other.
Every fan of the 5 seeds always pull for the 13 because they know its a much easier game, nothing you can say can prove otherwise.

Iowa football 1955-60 included a National Championship, three top 5 finishes, four top 10 finishes two Big Ten Championships, and Two Rose Bowl Wins. That is their most dominant six year run in football.

Iowa State was a 4 seed. And, if you didn't want us to get "lucky" the team that tied with the Iowa Hawkeyes for 3rd in the regular season conference standings, and finished 12th in the nation, should have beat that 12 seed that we got so lucky to face. **** happens in the NCAA tournament, that is why it is hard to consistently make deep runs. But blame Purdue if you are pissed we had to play Little Rock in the second round.
