Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

It's pretty simple really. If Iowa beats Penn State and then wins one game in the BTT, they are squarely on the bubble, probably on the outside looking in. If they beat Penn State and win two in the BTT, they are probably in. Make it to the Big Ten Finals and they are a lock.

I'm hoping he's going for the reverse jinx, but he overreacts to everything Iowa. Pretty sure he thought they were going to run the table last year from February on.

Nope, not overreacting at all. The big10 sucks. Who will finish higher next year, especially when you think of team's players leaving? Maryland, Purdue, PennState, Wisc, Nebraska, Illinois, Rutgers, Indiana .... nope, times 8.

Officials didn't matter tonight even though Wisconsin got hosed

Iowa RPI after tonight will prob hover around 76ish..

They've had few nice wins but that doesn't equate to tourney bid...if they win next 3 sure they could..possible as big ten is just that bad..

That Wisconsin team was not even remotely close to what a top 25 team resembles...

You mean to tell me that Iowa's RPI which was at 90 this morning, will jump that much to 76ish (as you suggest) with 1 big win over a team that's lost 5 of 6? Hmmmm

You're getting a little worked up. Looks like after a season that didn't go your way, you were really hoping that Iowa would miss the NCAA tourney in a down year. Sorry man.

Now if this isn't a typical Hawk post, I don't know what is. Yep, its always all about you guys. Arrogant much?

Man I get the rivalry and everything but don't let hatred for a team fanbase completely block the ability to give a team just a little bit of credit. Yes Hawk fans never give Clones credit when credit is due I get it, and yes Wisconsin played terrible, but let's be honest...Maryland did not play bad and Iowa still beat them. Just like Kansas played well against ISU and ISU beat them. Sorry for being a buzzkill just gets a little ridiculous sometimes.

If Iowa is the 7 then they will play the winner of Sunday's game between Indiana and OSU who would be locked in as the 10. If Iowa wins that game they would play either Wisky or Minnesota. They play this weekend and the winner of that game gets the 2 seed in DC.
Minnesota is playing well now, but Iowa should probably hope to play them. It might be their only really good RPI opportunity other than Purdue. Maryland and Wisc will help some, but with 32-33 games in the books beating a team around 30 in RPI isnt going to result in a big jump. I still have a tough time seeing a path to an at large with their RPI, Kenpom, BPI. They just got buried too far.

Agreed, I hope Minny gets the 2 seed if Iowa wins on Sunday and gets the 7 seed. And I hope OSU beats Indy this wknd so the Buckeyes will be the 10 and play Iowa next Thursday.

Well, I think you just said it yourself....."Hawk fans never give Clones credit when credit is due" . Kinda hard to change people's perceptions......one thinks it jealousy, another thinks its the 'holier than thou' attitude. Not sure why there's even a rivals forum in the first place.

You can't claim a team who brings back a bunch of average players is an NCAA lock. They could make it, they could miss it. The best realistic prediction is bubble team assuming players improve, if they don't improve they have about a 0% chance losing by far their best offensive player.

Outside of Cook they don't have many (if any) players other teams would chose to build around if they could. Bohannon is just a capable 3 point shooter, if he's the point guard he brings a ton of liabilities with that shooting. He won't suddenly become a better shooter playing with below average guards instead of an All Big Ten guard next to him, that's never how basketball works.

Somebody like Donovan Jackson is just as good a shooter and brings a ton of other things to both sides of the ball. Somebody like Lindell Wiggington might as well be a different species.

I think the rivals forum exists to funnel them out of the other forums. Works for the most part. :)

No blocking here....Iowa gets huge credit for punching out Maryland. Sorry... can't convince me to claim the same for tonight. That was the worst 2 minutes of execution down the stretch by Wisc (a rated team with seniors, at home) I think I've ever watched.

Did you say the same when Iowa choked the last 2 away at Hilton?
