Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

yeah, they said during the broadcast that it wasn't a review-able play.
Honestly, if the guy was standing out of bounds when he touched the ball like hok fans claim, I don't understand why it's not review-able, but I guess those are the rules. That play didn't cost them the game though. A lot still could've happened. But Fran kicks and screams and they blow the game even when they still had a chance to win. Typical Fran. Can't coach at the end of games or the end of the season.

He didn't rely on his PG, he was calling one too.
Well there is where your problem lies, trying to call a timeout while the opposing player has 2 hands on the ball is not allowing the ref to make the timeout call. He should have never been in that situation to begin with, anyways.

Found this post from HR funny:

I think we can all agree on 5 things:

1. Iowa's freshmen embarrassed ISU's seniors
2. ISU is doing what it was supposed to this year
3. Iowa has exceeded expectations this year
4. The future is bright for Iowa basketball
5. ISU will likely struggle the next few years

1. Yep. Our worst loss of the season
2. Yeah, more or less. I think a .500 conference record and 9ish seed was more or less the expectation.
3. If your expectations were to miss the NCAA and NIT, then yes.
4. Sure. As a fan it only makes sense to think that way. I wouldn't be overly optimistic if I were an Iowa fan, but maybe that's because we have higher expectations in Ames.
5. Not accurate. Bringing in a class of highly rated kids, plus the opportunity to snag a couple JUCO's and Yetna would greatly impact next season. As it sits now, reasonable expectations puts us around fringe bubble team.

He probably could have called it a little sooner, but he clearly called it before any tie up occurred.

If you think those are funny you should checkout Hawkeyenation and the "Jok Shouldnt Start Anymore" thread. Pure comedy gold.

I can only take so much of reading that stuff over there. Eesh. And to think I used to subject myself to that madness.

I would take this with a large grain of salt since it is coming from someone who a couple of days ago posted that Donovan Jackson is a better player than Peter Jok. Its obvious your ability to evaluate basketball players is severely lacking.

What was that one?
Jim Bain really touches a nerve for Hok fans. Lute Olson said he should be thrown in jail. He called a foul on the wrong Iowa player at the end of a game. There was a foul on an Iowa player, just not on Kevin Boyle. ISU fans have never gotten this upset about any bad call against them.

Note: File Jim Bain references for future use along with Lafester and Gessel choking references.

Say what you will. But the fact is Iowa State is going to its 6 consecutive NCAA tournament this season. Our program has elevated and so our expectations have followed. I know that your next response will divert from this post and you'll, again, bring up my opinion on Jok/Jackson as if it holds any bearing on this discussion.

I can't see the clearly called TO on the video posted, but you could be right. Its obvious that JorBo was calling one before the tie-up, but, as was indicated when the rule change was made 2 years ago, this allows for more parody in in-game situations because of crowd-noise and players adrenaline pumping making them not think perfectly clear. It was a tough play for you guys, and I would be pissed as well if it had happened to Iowa State. But would have also been mad at our player for not being aware of the situation.
