Cook has potential, but under Fran he will never reach that potential. Young will most likely have a better career due to superior coaching and development.

Unfortunately we had a coach with one foot out the door, so that hurt recruiting. Better reason than having a bad coach who just can't recruit though.
Fortunately our current coach is able to bring in talent from other sources to remedy the situation and has some damn good recruits signed already for next year.
They both have a lot of potential, but they are two totally different players. Granted, I have only seen Cook play maybe 3 times. Cook does have the advantage in athleticism though, which is big.
Yeah, Fran has never developed anyone.....
Do you have examples of Fran's development projects at Iowa? I'm actually curious.
Marble was lowly ranked and ended up 1st team All BigTen. So was White and Jok. Uthoff was ranked in the 125 range I think and he also ended up All BigTen. Fran has developed talent well.

Yeah, the kid that had only been playing basketball for a handful of years before the Iowa staff got a hold of him and now he is being payed more than you or I to play basketball in Italy. Yeah, that guy.
I think I can actually agree with you on those. Those are the few players I would have liked to have had on our team. Except maybe Marble, because he was a tool.
Jok and White yes, Uthoff no, the guy was the softest player in Iowa history. When the going got tough last year he folded down the stretch which is why they went from a #1 seed in Des Moines to playing Temple.
I don't know the figure honestly(was kind of talking out of my ass). Point is that he plays in one of the top leagues in Europe and the top league in Italy. Lega Basket Serie A.
Uthoff, on the right team, could have been deadly. The problem is that he was counted on to be "the guy" which was not in his emotional and mental capacity. Doesn't help that Fran ran the kid down and made him afraid to mess up.
Uthoff would have been a great second option for many teams including ISU. He could have produced similar to Matt Thomas if used correctly, with added rebounding and defensive abilities due to his length.
But when you count on him to take over games and be the main playmaker, you are setting yourself up for a 2 point second half.
Cook is more gifted offensively, Young is much better defensively. This year Young probably fits ISU better but that doesn't mean he's better
