Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Wouldnt make much sense since he would burn a year of eligibility.

Uthoff did it. Happens all the time. He is going to get 3 years of playing time if he leaves which is really no different than players that ride the bench their whole freshman year instead of redshirting

Hearing some speculation that Moss is not happy at all right now and is keeping his eyes open. Granted it was from the same source that said Martin was for sure not going to Iowa and was going to go to Notre Dame so take it for what it's worth

I had a convo with My hok source (who is also a good friend of mine) the other day:

- everyone wants Fran gone except Fran and the people that could make him gone.

-Apparently some big time donors are pushing for a full assistant coach overhaul they are not happy with the recruiting

-They think that since Frans kids and weiskamp didn't require any effort they should be able to put out hard on other targets but Prohm and ISU staff run circles around them.

-Instead of identifying talent and pursuing talent Fran only wants "Fran guys" and will take a less talented player if he will be a Fran guy

-Fran has talked in third person to my friend to his face: "Fran and the hoks are going to make the fans proud" that's exactly what he said to my source

Yep, I actually wouldn't mind if he left. We could use his athleticism, but he isn't anybody that can't be replaced. Might be better to free up the schollie actually.

Fran got bailed out by Uhtoff transferring to Iowa and by Iowa State having to walk away from Jok. Can you imagine how bad they would have been over the last 3 years if those guys didn't show up? Fran can't recruit and he leans way to hard on underrated Iowa kids, which isn't exactly a recipe for success. As far as I'm concerned Fran can have every Iowa kid outside of the top national 100!

His recruiting has been fine, hes bringing in 4-star players most years. I would argue his coacing ability is holding him back more than recruiting. Gessell and Woodbury should have both been alot better players according to their rankings.

Pretty much everybody walked away from Jok, so I wouldnt brag like the only reason they got him is that we didnt want him. He would have ended up at Duke or Kansas if he hadnt gotten hurt.

Higher than all but 2 Big XII schools, only about 400 per game behind ISU.

I enjoy how you "cherry picked" Iowa's 2016 dream season.

I can't and won't defend attendance for Tech, Baylor, OU, TCU, or OSU, it's pathetic. I've always given props to the Big Ten regarding home court advantages, outside of Penn State they all draw pretty good crowds. With that being said, lets not pretend that Iowa fans are packing Carver...

Without Uhtoff and Jok, Fran would be fired. I'm so happy they went to Iowa so Fran can bury the program again.

Are fans allowed to stand and cheer in Carver? It always seems like they are in church when I watch on tv.

You expect him to pull in Michigan State or Indiana level recruits? I dont know why you guys think his recruiting has been so bad. Its been on par with an average basketball team over the last 6 years.

He's at least keeping the top Iowa kids, something we have never done in our history and something that would not have happened under Lickliter.

Jordan Bohannon is your starting point guard. Need I say more?

That's a low bar since Marcus Paige. I don't think I'd have taken any of them except Jok has panned out this year but he's a ticking time bomb and he's 26 years old.

I'll give props to the Big 10, they are still coming out to watch basketball even if the product on the court is as bad as its been in the last decade.

Edit. These are last years numbers?

Yes, NCAA website doesnt list 2016-2017 attendance figures yet. At least, not that I can find.

Bohannon isnt that bad, hes just small. He's better than Gessell ever dreamed of being, at least he can make shots once in awhile.

Only thing Gessell was really good at was dribbling around the perimeter and wasting shot clock before making a stupid turnover. Bohannon at least looks like he has some basketball IQ so far, something Gessell lacked.

Just using the most recent full season data available. Here are the last 4 seasons prior to 2015-2016. Iowa is ranked ahead of ISU in 2 of the 4 below.
