Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

This is real dumb, and you should feel bad.

They played with 2 NBA players, probably 3 after this season. They were rotation players who just needed to hit a shot every once in awhile. If they were surrounded by the "talent" Iowa has they would have better stats because they'd have different roles. I can go through most garbage teams, like Iowa, and find players with good stats.

I feel likes it's groundhogs day, Iowa fans keep coming up with the same weak argument year after year. You would think that being wrong every single time would eventually open your eyes.

Iowa's own Melsahn Basabe is a perfect example of the fools gold that the Hok's are lining their pockets with, when it comes to guys like Jorbo and Moss. Look at his Freshman year numbers. They were drooling over him and his potential. Fast forward 3 years and they couldn't wait to get rid of him. Now, that might not happen to Jorbo or Moss. But, freshman year performance, in a vacuum, is not always much of an indicator of anything.

Weren't there tons of Iowa fans that claimed they would take Basabe over Ejim? How'd that turn out?

Docholihawk post from last year after the tournament:

While we are disappointed with the way things turned out, would you rather be a cyfan who can't beat division 2 football teams and a basketball team that next year won't be competitive. I would rather get close and fail than be a total loser.

Thomas vs. Jok is as close as they ever came, and they still failed. Thomas is a much better shooter, and defensively it isn't close. Just the difference between playing at the black hole of talent, and playing for a tourney team.

Docockhawk is the worst (except for HerkyFan).

It is head-scratching to read the comparisons of Moss to Naz and Thomas. Moss could end up being a decent player - I really don't know. But both Naz and Thomas have improved each year and are stalwarts of a team ready to make its 6th straight NCAA tourney. Not sure what resumé Moss has or will have, but methinks it won't be as flattering by the time Moss ends his career at Iowa (unless he gets Franned, that is).

Anyone trying to say Moss is any good is delusional. He is one of the worst players for Iowa. Him and Williams are bad. The fact Moss is starting shows how stupid Fran is. Fran actually said as well he is having a hard time not playing all 13 players?!?!

This is why Fran can never leave. They need to make the NIT next year so his seat doesn't get hot

This year reminds me a lot of Cully Paynes freshman year at Iowa. He averaged 9 & 4. Iowa fans were projecting final 4 runs in a couple years due to there diamond in the rough freshman and recruits that would be coming in. Unfortunately what Iowa fans don't seem to understand is that anyone who plays a large roll will by default put up solid numbers for a freshman. The numbers don't have a lot of merit unless the team is having at least some success which Iowa isn't. Iowa has the leading scorer in the big ten and they still probably will miss the NIT.

Wow, I just saw they are having Dale Jones bobble-head night tonight. If that doesn't pack the stands, I don't know what will.

Fun fact: That bobblehead has scored as many points this season as the actual Dale Jones.

And yes hawk fans I know he broke his wrist.

You may want to check Thomas numbers as a freshman and then as a sophomore.
