Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Yeah got killed by Penn State, and by some miracle beat Michigan. That won't happen again for a very long time. Harbaugh is building the program and getting top level recruits. From here on out, it's an automatic loss for the hoks.

A better response would have been, "Yeah, in looking at 2016 schedules it appears you were right, they did play both Michigan and Penn State and still finished 8-4. I was completely wrong and uniformed when I chose to use an extremly bad example of how weak Iowa's schedule was".

Let's leave the football talk to the football thread. Big 10 football defenses sucked last year, we all know it, now let's move on to the topic of hand.

Man how down is Iowa this year?

I don't think these numbers are that crazy off. Considering The big XII by all accounts is much much better than advertised, ISU dropped 2 games they had absolutely no business losing, and lost 4 games by a total of 8 points or something like that. At the time it was thought that the quality of the competition was going to require 22 wins to get to the good side of the tourney bubble. The competition just proved to be better than advertised and ISU was about what was expected. We are likely still looking at just north of bubble city. Wins are a funny thing. Quality has much fewer fluctuations. Match ups and bad days happen. But as I said not that far off. We were hopeful for status quo, and got what was most likely.

Shocker, that a preseason poll for ISU on a FANATIC page was a game or 2 optimistic.

You were 8-4 with one of the easiest schedules in the country. When you have to play Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan you will automatically have 3 losses. Those teams are getting better and you are getting worse. Nebraska and Wisconsin are getting better. You will lose to us every year. That's already 6 losses before you figure in your one or

1. More difficult schedule
2. Lost your starting QB so you are playing a guy with no experience
3. Lost the best guys you have on defense.
4. You did recruit worse, but 1 5 star made the class look much better than it did.
5. You have a guy with 0 experience calling plays and you brought in a washed up coach to help and some guys from ND and a MAC school
6. KF keeps doing the same thing over and over. Yes you had one great year because you played the easiest schedule ever and got embarrassed when you had to play someone good. That only ensured he would be around to bury your program into the ground.

Good luck with all of that.
Oh where to start with this one. Jesus.

Iowa played two of the three you just listed in the second sentence and beat one of them. Then Iowa played both you listed in the fourth sentence and beat one of them. And saying Iowa will lose to Iowa State every year immediately makes your opinion irrelevant and irrational. So idk what your point is with that first paragraph?

1. The schedule is about the same year in year out
2. Iowa won without their QB barely getting to 100 yards in games and they could of just played without WRs most of the time as they were irrelevant
3. Lost two of the best, return Jewell and return a lot of key pieces. Plus, Epenesa will play a lot for Iowa next year
4. That argument is so stupid. It is a sum of the parts, you can't just leave a part out to make your argument convenient.
5. Can't get any worse than Greg Davis calling plays
6. Iowa doesn't play the "easiest schedule ever". KF has been there 20 years and hasn't buried the program into the ground yet, so what makes you think he will this year or next year?

That would be incorrect, the Big 10 sucked. Let's talk about how horrible the basketball team is and how down the Big 10 is in basketball now. Are you depressed your basketball team won't be good for 5+ years?

Next year they will be I said. Jok is the only reason you guards aren't the worst in all of P5 and he's leaving
Jok is more of a wing than a guard. Just like I consider Matt Thomas more of a wing than a guard. To me guards bring the ball up the floor, Jok never does that.

I'm trying to end the football talk in this thread, but if you don't think Iowa has had one of the easiest schedules in a Power 5 conference over the past couple of years than you are more delusional than I thought. And yes we will start beating you in football every year. And yes, the game has passed KF by. And yes your offense can be even worse under a OC that has no clue what he's doing. I'm excited to show you how right I am, let's say next December? Until then, let's talk about how pathetic your basketball program is.

Not that crazy off? Almost 90% of the people that voted expected at least 22 regular season wins. That is looking to be off by 3-4 games.

1976 thinks that because Iowa State had its best recruiting class in school history and still finished 4 spots below Iowa, that equates to Iowa State destroying Iowa in football for the foreseeable future.

The guy has no idea what hes talking about, just trolls endlessly

Its funny because you actually believe this.

This place has the second most Hawkeye talk on the internet.
Only because we like to make fun of you fools who like to puff your chest and think you are actually good at anything outside of wrestling. I didn't know there was any place where people actually talk about Iowa sports. I'm not aware of any Hawkeye websites outside of HN and the 2 times I've looked over there, it's like a ghost town.

Reading comprehension would be a good course for you. I explained how those numbers mesh if you can read the rest of my post. If the rest of the bb world was as expected and 2 teams didn't have the outlier of the year, we would be right about those numbers. wins and losses fluctuate much more that quality. We knew we had a bubble team, and hoped to be on the inside by the end. That's exactly where I would put ISU right now. The other teams changed. My expectations and successful predictions didn't. I didn't predict wins, I knew this team was a bubble team and the schedule quality proved different ISU proved to be exactly what this poll would suggest. Based on what we expected from the schedule we expected 22 wins to get to the north side of the bubble. Turns out the schedule warrants 18 wins gets in.

A bubble team with some upside optimism. IF the Big XII was more on par with the BIG 10 like it was expected to be, then we could be looking at 22, 23 wins. Its equivalent quality. -- Hopefully, GOOD SIDE OF THE BUBBLE.
