Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

The best defenses in the Big 12 this year were significantly better than the best defenses in the Big 10 this year. Not even close

You are very wrong about the Defenses thing.

Last year, there were 9 Big Ten defenses ranked higher than the highest Big 12 defense. The highest was K-State at 51. Oklahoma, the best team in the Big 12, came in at 82. They scored 23 and 24 against Houston and Ohio State. The least amount they scored in the Big 12 was against Iowa State at 34, yes that vaunted Iowa State defense that the anemic Iowa offense put up 42 on.

Now, before you go into the whole "Big 12 offenses are soooo elite excuse" lets go over some things:

1. The SEC is known for its great defenses, and they have great defenses. But, they have just as anemic offenses as the Big Ten does in that conference. You never hear about how they're defenses "suck" because their offenses "suck". Also, anyone outside of this website who watches college football would agree that SEC and Big Ten defenses are much better than Big 12 defenses.

2. Just watch college football on Saturday's, in the Big 12 you have guys running simple fly or post routes who are running wide, and I mean wide open for touchdowns. I watch a ton of college football, from every conference, and Big 12 as a whole has the worst defense. Numerous times, I am baffled at how open people are and how unphysical these defenses are. Which brings me to the next point

3. Look at the mock drafts for this upcoming draft. In one, I counted 14 Big Ten defensive players projected to be picked before the first Big 12 defensive player. In the first three rounds it was 15-2. Might tell you something about the difference in defensive talent between the two conferences.

Yeah because Big 10 offenses suck. Let's stick to the facts

Thanks. Long time reader, first time poster. Not trolling, just would rather have more facts in the discussion than anything.
You left out the fact that Big 10 offenses are so bad that they inflate the defensive stats. They got exposed in the bowl games. Horrible conference. But this is a basketball thread, and as it turns out, the Big 10 is a horrible conference in basketball as well. I guess it just sucks to be the Big 10.

^^^ This guy knows his stuff. I tried telling all of you guys that anyone would agree with me the Big 12 isn't good at defense.

I guarantee anyone reading this thread that isn't an Isu fan is laughing at the notion of the Big 12 being better on D. You guys are so stubborn in your hate of anything Iowa you just have blinders on.

Fair. But creating a new name, for your first post to be about football, in a basketball thread, on your rivals forum, isn't the best look to start off.
Everyone has to start with a first post at some point. And I was commenting on a 4-5 page area of discussion that happened in the last couple hours.

You are comparing stats from a minuscule sample size vs those from an entire season that includes your data.

An entire season of playing against bad offenses. It's comparing apples to oranges. Might as well throw in Coe or Wartburg's defensive stats in here while we're at it
