Iowa Football Recruiting

It remains to be seen, but it is what ISU should have been doing for the last 10 years. If ISU had early season line play, they'd have a 50/50 chance to beat Iowa every season. But at this point I don't see any way they'd be a better team at the end of the year, notwithstanding an early season win over Iowa. That's probably going to change on a semi regular basis going forward, but that isn't the case now.

I hold the belief that if ISU had concentrated on developing in state recruits for offensive line play and ran the ball, they should have been no worse than .500 for the last decade. Historically if you look at the B12's OOC and records against T25 going .500 given the overall lack of defense was/is obtainable.

Iowa played 5 T25 last season, ISU played 3. the B12 had two teams over .500 against T25, and one was Texas. The B1G had 3, but head to head the B1G played more T25 games. Obviously there are more teams. I looked this up quicly as well as some head to head games. It is what it is.

Your point about a tougher schedule for ISU lacks factual basis in the last several seasons. Having said this, given the easier schedule and overall ease of beating a B12 teams with a running and ball control offense, there is no reason your new staff should have ISU @ .500 by year 3.

Um history shows that Iowa State DOES have a 50/50 shot to beat Iowa every year but thanks for playing.

If you are just looking at the final AP top 25 rankings then you are completely ignoring a lot of pretty good teams. According to Sagrin Iowa State and Iowa played the #32 and #33 toughest schedules last year. It's rarely that close. Obviously the Big 12 was down a little last year but that won't be the case next year. Outside of Kansas there is no break in the Big 12. The round robin schedule is brutal and that's not even debatable.

And Iowa State. Texas Tech is bad too.

Just because you are one of the bottom feeders doesnt mean you can exclude yourself from the list of pushovers.

You're welcome.

I would like you to do the same. Those nasty little facts I tell ya...

I already have. What part of ISU's head to head against OOOC and T25's as compare to Iowa's are you disputing. And what part of the B12 OOC and T25's -v- the B1G's are you disputing?

You mentioned facts. I've posted some facts. How about you post your set of facts, alternative, or real?

Do you think Park would have a season where he passed for over 4000 yards if he got to play in the Big Ten?

I am not talking about ISU vs. Iowa first off.

Secondly, what facts have you posted? Just by saying the Big 12 doesn't play defense, that's a fact? You haven't stated any facts at all?

Are you just claiming Ohio State's victory over Oklahoma as the only parameter for Big 12 vs Big Ten top 25's? Would you like to compare what Ohio St. has done to the rest of the Big Ten?

I don't get what you're arguing. You say you have stated facts, but you haven't at all.

I didn't post the B12's record against T25 teams, and the B1G's record against T25 teams? I'm pretty sure I did.

Two schools for the Big 12 and three for the Big Ten. Okay? Big 12 has 10 teams, and the Big Ten has 14. Odds might be a little better there for one conference.

What about the conference as a whole? Are we only talking about the good teams in each conference?

Year in and year out the only bad Big 12 teams are generally ISU and KU, sprinkle in Tech and lately Texas.

What about the Big Ten? Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers, Indiana, Maryland, maybe even Northwestern or Minnesota at times?

You can puff your Big Ten chest out about Ohio St and Michigan, why wouldn't you? But don't forget the bottom teams here.

Absolutely, we can figure out the overall conference winning percentage against T25 teams. Let's go ahead and do this. You go first.
