Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Our 3 point specialist is Matt Thomas. Naz has been really inconsistent from 3 this year

Ha! Matt Thomas is a LOT better than Naz, that's for sure. He has made 54 3's shooting 41.5%.
So, your 3 point specialist has made the same amount of 3's as our FRESHMAN point guard, who is terrible according to you, while shooting a whooping 3% better from beyond the arc. Spectacular.

Freshmen this season with 100+ assists, 50+ 3-pointers:
***UCLA's Lonzo Ball (176 asts, 53 3's)
***Iowa's Jordan Bohannon (107 asts, 50 3's)

Seems like he must be decent. That was a few games ago.
Only 2 to 1 Assist to turnover ratio, which we all know isn't great
87.5% from FT line
Made 54 3's so far this year, 38% from out there, not great either
But then again, Naz only has 57 made 3's on the year, shooting 35.8% from 3.

So, your 3 point specialist has made a few more 3's than our freshman point guard, while shooting a lower percentage from 3. Interesting....considering ours is trying to run the offense

Iowa fans confusing quantity with quality again

The difference is, we play against legitimate competition. Sure he can pad big stats against the sisters of the poor in the little ten. You can polish that turd all you want. He's still a turd.

Thomas has made the same amount of 3's as Bohannon on 12 less shots while playing a much harder schedule.

There's a HUGE difference in saying Bohannon is a terrible PG and Bohannon is a terrible 3 point shooter. I've never said he was a bad 3 point shooter

I don't think you understand quite how analytics work...

Just a thought, Bohannon's 3 numbers are inflated because he is typically the 3rd to 5th largest threat on the floor for Iowa.

Matt rarely, if ever, gets a good look from 3 because defenses key on him.

I feel confident that if Matt got Bohannon's treatment on defense his 3 numbers would be astronomical.

Bohannon looks like he is a pretty good shooter, he is a competitor and is heady but he lacks athleticism so his ceiling is low but I think he can develop into a good Big 10 player.

I think he'd be a better fit at the 2, but then we'd actually have to recruit a point guard, which appears that we are not able to do :)

If only you had this guy

Sorry CloneFan, ESPN didn't have a metric that showed a weighted 3 point percentage combined with the teams strength of schedule. Oh, maybe we need to break it down by 3 point percentage depending on who was defending them at the time of the attempt or make? Would that be better for you?

Yeah, he'd be nice to have. On well, play with the hand we are dealt. Doing better than I thought we would, honestly, besides dropping to that powerhouse UNO.
You should be happy with the NIT. Think that's pretty much going to be the new norm for awhile. You might squeeze in with an 8 to 11 seed once in awhile, but most years you will be on the outside looking in. Fran got the program as high as it will go under him thanks to some life long Hawk fans that were just mediocre enough to squeeze into the dance a couple of times. Now that he has nobody to save him, you will be a perennial NIT bubble team.

It's not CloneFan who needs the context

Just like ISU Football is going to be a perennial bowl team? Comical my friend.

You thought you would be worse than you are this year? Wow. Did you expect to have a losing record this year?

Really? We lost all of our starters besides Jok, and start 3 true freshman, a redshirt freshman, and a senior. So yes, I wouldn't have been surprised by it. I don't drink the koolaid.
