Seemingly never ending Iowa MBB thread (still going.....)

Oh....I'll post in it again. I expected a team that starts 4 freshmen to be inconsistent, so yesterdays debacle doesn't bother me too much. (it was a horrible performance though)

I have a feeling that as the losses pile up for your senior laden team that you guys will clam up a bit though. Have you guys beaten a top 25 team yet?

Why are you guys starting 4 freshman? Did Fran just forget to recruit the last 3 years?

I expected a team that has to start 4 freshman would also be starting out with a new coach. Not a guy in Year 8.

at least they didn't lose to TCU while starting four seniors. That would be really embarrassing.

Didn't watch, I assume?

Unless it all falls apart TCU is likely a tourney team.

NW may be as well but a 35 point loss is still bad.

I was referring to the "worst team in p5 history" part. TCU's history isn't a whole lot better than Northwestern's, but neither has much impact on how good the 2017 versions are. It's too damn early in the season to know how good most teams are.

I fully expect Northwestern to fall apart, just like they do every year.

NW has had Big 10 money, resources, and prestige for how long? TCU was a mid-major for how long prior to joining the B12?

right, but it's a whole lot easier to win that mid major than it is to win the Big 10. And in terms of who they're competeing against in each league, I'd guess Northwestern is far closer to the bottom of the Big 10 in revenue than TCU was in their conference as a mid major.

TCU has made 7 tournaments, 4 Sweet 16's and an Elite 8. Can you give me Northwestern's NCAA tournament info?

This speaks volumes on how little Iowa fans knows about basketball.

right, I was responding to a poster who called Northwestern the worst p5 team in the country, but I'm the one who doesn't know anything about basketball.

It's nice that you guys talk TCU up this much, we'll see if you continue to do so come March.

I am scared of TCU and OSU going forward. I think big12 fans would be fools not to. Jamie Dixon is already recruiting at a whole nother level than Trent ever did, and Underwood is a very very solid coach. I said as much at the beginning of the year, they've even surpassed what I expected out of them in year 1.

lol, that's cute. TCU has never won two games in the tournament.

but hey, I suppose if only 16 teams made the tournament, that counts as being in the sweet 16!

yes, TCU's history is better than Northwestern's. But it isn't that much better, especially if you only go back to when the field expanded to 64 teams.

I think Northwestern is decent this year. Not great, but decent. Definitely could sneak in tourney. But I don't think a team is very good if they go on the road and get blasted by a fringe tourney team by 35. Iowa is a horrendous team away from Carver.

Yeah, agree there.

I remember people posting stuff mocking OSU losing to ISU in 2011, along the lines of 'If you want to be in the National Title Game, don't lose to Iowa State', referring to ISU's bad history. This was Iowa and Nebraska fans talking about this, while Iowa and Nebraska were both something like .500 that season.

no. team does not equal program. A lousy program can have a good team. A good program can have a bad team. You're just being intentionally obtuse now. Good day sir.
Ah, the semantics copout.

TCU and NW are on par this year with each other, but ISU didn't lose by 35, they lost by 7.
