Iowa Football Recruiting

That is the biggest problem with the offense, the WRs but Davis was a also a huge part of the problem. Very poor passing scheme. Also, Vandeberg is pretty good at getting open and has great hands, but he is a slot receiver. They have no wideouts that have shown they are any good.

Has Iowa's offensive strategy really changed? The main reason the pass game worked under KOK is because he actually had some decent receivers. That's not going to just change over night.

Focus will be the same for every game, I am more talking about not letting off the gas if Iowa has a large lead. With BF at the helm of the offense, last year may have been 56-3 instead of 42-3.

A blowout is a blowout. I mean, the only real difference would have been that the score would read differently on the commemorative shirts that were printed after this years legendary game.

Like 42-3 narrow?

The fact that you can't comprehend how much Iowa State grew last season pretty much sums up your Iowa ignorance. I mean the lowly Cyclones are recruiting at a higher level than you right now and they were right behind you in the 2016 class. This is coming off of Iowa's 12-2 (not 12-0) miraculous season...

Iowa has routinely had classes in the 50's and has done just fine the last 18 years so I am not worried with the classes that Iowa has put together the last couple of years. The key is not having a large amount of attrition which has happened in the past when Iowa has trended down.

Campbell and staff still need to prove they can develop talent at the P5 level.

The passing game was vastly different under Davis than it was with KOK as OC.

You think KF moved on from KOK because of some vocal fans? That is ridiculous.
Dude, please. Don't even try to rewrite history here. The NFL job provided nice cover, but KOK was done at Iowa regardless. It wasn't just a few vocal fans. He was every bit as popular as Greg Davis, whose convenient "retirement" is nothing more than Kirk trying to stay ahead of the pitchforks. Same deal with KOK

Ok

Under Davis, TE involvement in the passing game has pretty much disappeared, more shotgun, less play action, less QB waggle, a lot more freedom for WR's to improvise routes which has been an absolute disaster.

Sign me up in a heartbeat to go back to the passing attack that KOK used.

You know how the ranking system works, right? ISU has a higher ranked class right now because they have 20 commits as opposed to Iowa's 14. Iowa's player average is 85.49 while ISU has a 83.94. That will change before signing day, but that's where it currently stands. Rhoads had a class or two ranked higher as well, but once again had a lower star rating, so not really something new.

Looking at the numbers of the last three recruiting classes, ISU has taken 78 kids to Iowa's 67. One would expect those numbers to start paying dividends pretty soon as an extra 3-4 guys a class would be helpful with landing some hidden talent.

Let's take out legacy recruits for both teams and what are the averages then?

Oh they count I was just curious what they would be at without that AJ kid since it would help my argument
I'm more of a P5 offers kind of guy myself, and I honestly have no idea where either team now stands on that, especially after Iowa's Texas meltdown. I gotta get some work done (fryers need warmed up for lunch) so I'll leave the tallying up to you my man.
