Westbrook currently has a higher RPG than DeMarcus Cousins, more APG than Chris Paul, and is averaging more points per game than Steph Curry, Keven Durant, and Jame Harden.

Is on the course for the best single season performance by a player in NBA history?

Statistically, no. Wilt put up some insane numbers in his prime and Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double for an entire season in the early sixties. But those numbers were reached during different eras. What OKC is asking of him every game and what he's delivering so far is incredible.
But Westbrook, James Harden, and Anthony Davis are all putting up crazy numbers and carrying their respective teams. I think Westbrook gets the most headlines right now because of his playing style. What the other two are doing is just as impressive. Harden has the Rockets in front of the Thunder in the standings, and the Brow has zero help in New Orleans. If Jrue Holiday is your second best player, you've got problems.

In the last 30 years yes. He's the first player to average a triple double since '61. He has gotten a triple double in 7 of his last 9 games.

What he is doing is remarkable. If he keeps this pace up it would go down as one of the greatest efforts of all-time, and probably the best we have seen since Oscar Robinson's triple-double season.

Westbrook is currently averaging a triple double. There's no one even close to him since Robertson if that holds, which at this point isn't a completely ridiculous expectation.
