Big Announcement - Lazard staying put...

Good because I've literally not seen anything projecting him to leave early for the NFL or transfer.

Really do like how he's stuck it out despite what's possibly been a frustrating-at-times career.

Part of a culture change in an era where major college athletics have basically turned into free agency may be that there's proof: good players go to and stay at ISU.

His draft will be decided by his 40 time and by watching him get run down I am guessing it's not going to be good. He had to comeback.

He should be hanging with the track sprinting coaches this coming year. He can improve his speed, everyone can to some extent. Maybe not a lot but some unless it's something he has already worked on and what you so is all you can get. Downside is track workouts are boring, lonely and hard and less fun than lifting weights with the guys. Less cool music to.

There are great receivers in the NFL that don't have great 40 times. There's a place there for guys who run good routes, use their body well, and catch the tough balls. I agree that a better 40 time will help where he goes in the draft though. No idea what he actually runs.

Exactly. One of the best receivers in the history of the NFL was Jerry Rice. His 40 time was a not so stellar 4.7. Lazard is around a 4.6. If he would transition into a TE in the NFL that would put him faster than a Witten or Gronkowski.

I'll be that guy...why on earth do student athletes make public announcements that they are staying in school?

Professional aspirations and talent or not, attending a university for 4 years (5 with a redshirt) and working towards a degree while exhausting your 4 years of athletic eligibility is the stated purpose and presumed intent of being an athlete on scholarship.

Keep working hard, and feel free to let the public know only if/when you decide to choose an alternate course for your college career (transferring, early draft entry, etc...).

Another young WR in the NFL who is (relatively) slow is Laquon Treadwell. Lazard is bigger than Treadwell, and I think Lazard is slower than him too. But Treadwell was a first round pick despite his speed because of his other qualities. If Lazard can get a little faster and have a great season next year with good route running and great catching, he will be drafted.

Laquon Treadwell would also disagree.... Drafted by the Vikings at #11 i believe, Treadwell only ran a 4.5 at the combine. If Lazard could get his times down into the 4.5 range - he will be drafted because of his size. He won't be a first rounder unless he comes back and dominates.

I like his chances with Park throwing the ball that his senior season will be one for the ISU record books. Just glad that all the Iowa fans that were projecting him to be at Iowa next year again will be disappointed in their receiving group!!!!
