RECRUITING: New Isaiah Stokes information

So I'm taking it that Stokes "did not" now actually commit to Florida in the same way that Hornacek "did not" tell ISU that he wasn't interested in the head coaching job.... OK got it.

Can you explain what this means for those of us not as informed in the recruiting process?

Just speculating, if he is an academic risk, (and I have no proof of this) maybe they signed him but in the event he does not make grades they would have him go to a local JC for a year with the promise of a scholarship after he gains eligibility.

I don't think Florida is hurting for bigs so low risk play for them.

A bit of a grassy knoll theory and probably not what happened, but no doubt this was a strange situation.

It's amazing how something as seemingly black-and-white as "did you sign this piece of paper" can be so murky.

Regardless of what happens, if I'm Prohm then I'm going the Godfather route. The Godfather only asks once for a favor. Tomorrow Isaiah gets to sleep with a severed horse head.

Yeah, that's what I'm asking. Do we get a pass because we were un-aware? Common sense says this should be true, but you never know with the NCAA.
Of course we were unaware. We wouldn't waste time on him if he was signed and we knew about it. It would be pointless and far too obvious. There is no violation here other than maybe a moral one by Stokes.

Doesn't a parent/guardian also have to sign an LOI if you are under 18?
If so that might be the reason for the hold up, as Mom and Dad are trying to figure out why the heck you would not come to ISU and play in front of packed houses that occupy Hilton and create the magic!

EDIT: if you are 21 is the rule, I am guessing the LOI is missing a signature.

Reading between the lines there would tell me they can't comment until it's confirmed he did sign a NLI
How would the school not know if he signed?

Today is the last day for them to submit the signing to the conference. He would have needed to have signed on November 16. Iowa State will announce a signing soon after they get it. What makes Florida so different that they need to have this two-week window afterward for them to figure out that he signed?

Don't give me wrong I'd say this probably doesn't look good for Iowa State. But the whole announcing of his signing by a third-party two weeks after the signing period is very strange.

With the NCAA's myriad of rules, I'd be amazed if it was legal for Florida to keep under wraps the fact that someone had signed a LOI.
