For those that are younger, Iowa State beat out Alabama and Bear Bryant for him. He was a super recruit to beat all super recruits. He was JJ and Milan's dad and was one of the nicest people and loyalist Cyclones you'll ever meet. One of the best people I've ever been fortunate enough to interact with.

I never met him, but I've heard nothing but good things about him from people that do.

Jerry was a very nice man sad to hear. If would have been a recruit in this day and age. He would have been a top 5 recruit and a 5 star. That is how big of deal it was when he came.
I've heard nothing but good things about Jerry and the entire Moses family. My condolences go out to all of them.
Cyclone fans should appreciate the news when Moses announced he was going to play for Johnny Majors; an eastern-Iowa kid, nationally recruited as the best back in the country, and he goes to Iowa State.
How do some of you feel about the thought Moses could have put up better numbers than Nebraska's Johnny Rogers had he stayed healthy ??
This is a bummer. I played football with Milan. While we weren't friends, he was a great kid and went out of his way to be kind to everyone.
I played with jerry in high school. Great person. As somebody already said, always had a smile and a kind word for everybody. As I read the article in the Waterloo courier, I was reminded.... 2 time first team all state in fb, 2nd team all state basketball, state champ in both the high and low hurdles. As a sophomore, high jumped 6'6" which was a state record at the time. High school

Another jerry fact ... if he would have accepted the Alabama scholarship, he would have been the first black football player at Alabama ....fall of 1970.

Visitation yesterday, funeral today. Huge turnout for a great person. Cyclone celebs, of sorts..... JJ and Milan, Travis ferguson's father, terry Woods mother and father ( jerry was terry woods uncle) and Ben Bruns. That was who I saw yesterday. I am sure Mike Woodley was the today.
